HIGH SCHOOL AU
Title: Equalivant Divergent
Chapter Title: Above Observant
Chapter Summary: Virgil gets settled into his new home...
Chapter Warnings: VERY BRIEF FOUL LANGUAGE, NOTHING TOO BAD! And Virgil is mean to his aunt :(
This is an AU. So yes, there will be OC's BUT they WON'T be main characters. They'll just be there to move things along.
This story will be PRINXIETY and LOGICALITY
-----
First glances can always be deceiving. A seemingly innocent guy walking down the street may be a murderer. A man with a good reputation may be abusing their son/wife. A happy and cheerful teenager may be secretly wanting to die, a simple quiet wallflower may have past issues that have traumatized him, or even a random emo guy who makes one too many Harry Potter references than strictly necessary (or healthy) could be the start of change in a high school.
...
Did I get too specific?
Anyway, the point is, a person may not seem like they appear to be at first glance. Like a certain drama prince, or the nerd we all know and love. But the thing is, not many people seem to actually acknowledge this. They prefer what they're seeing and not what's underneath.
But Virgil 'Anxiety' Bones, who is not only a major Harry Potter fan that constantly uses his own name as a joke, has a certain gift. He can sense what's underneath a person. He can sense who they truly are. It's not mind reading, telepathy, or any other mythological thing you could come up with. No, Virgil was just above observant.

Virgil, 3rd POV
~~~~~~~~~
Three months.
Three months and two weeks.
That's how long Virgil was taken away from the only person he ever loved.
You see, Virgil's mother Grace had been working three jobs just to get by and take care of her son. And despite being sixteen, people thought that she was neglecting her son. And that in turn attracted the government. And then they took Virgil away, and placed him with the nearest blood relative who was available.
Virgil's lip curled back in a silent sneer at the memory. Those disgusting assholes didn't know how hard his mother worked for food, let alone for a roof over their heads. They didn't understand. They would never understand! They called Virgil a child, even though he was forced to grow up years ago. He wasn't a child! Yes, he was a minor, but he wasn't a child. Contrary to popular belief there was a difference
"Virgil?" A soft voice broke through Virgil's thoughts.
He didn't reply.
"Virgil?" The voice tried again, but in a more exasperated tone.
No chance.
"Come on, Virgil, don't make me call you that. It's a ridiculous nickname!"
This time he slightly bristled at that comment, but made no other sign of even hearing her.
A defeated sigh came from the occupant of the voice "Fine." She conceded, if only to get the stubborn teenager to look at her "Anxiety?" This was said in a slightly annoyed way.
But that finally got the teenagers attention. The boy turned around from where he was sitting on the windowsill and raised a brow at the woman "Yes, Sophia?" Her name was said with distaste, annoyance, sarcasm, and just such dislike that the woman almost flinched back.
Sophia Grace née Bones was her name. And she was Virgil's widowed aunt on his fathers side. Sophia was in her mid-thirties with dark chestnut brown hair that fell in waves to her mid-back, dark soot-coloured eyes that always showed a certain amount of kindness, and thick-framed rectangular shaped glasses that sat on a tanned slightly upturned-nose. With defined cheekbones, cupid bow lips and a slightly pointed chin, she looked not only beautiful, but powerful with the aura of confidence And aloofness.
The brown haired woman sighed, having already given up of trying to convince Virgil, or rather Anxiety, to call her aunt or at least say her name without making it sound like he hated her...Which was partially true.
"Come on, Virg--Anxiety, I mean." Sophia corrected herself when Anxiety looked at her sharply "I'm going to the pharmacy." When she received nothing but a blank look, she sighed "And I want you to come with me."
Her reply came with a slight disgusted look "Ew! You mean, go outside? Where there's people? Normal people? Are you insane?" he asked before shaking his head "Don't answer that, I already know."
Biting her lip to keep herself from commenting, Sophia replied "Anxiety," - She gave Virgil an 'Are you happy?' look - "I want you to socialize, even if it's just for ten minutes. You have locked yourself in here since you arrived."
"With good reason." Virgil retorted with a snort before sneering and turning away to go back to his phone. It was a simple black Samsung, with a crack in the top-right corner. A rather cheap thing, but it was something he saved up months and months of money for.
Sophia narrowed her eyes at the phone. No matter how much she tries, Virgil refuses to let her buy him anything other than a new wardrobe (And even then, all he wanted was band T-shirts, ripped jeans, and hoodies...All of it in either black or dark purple). She was used to spending money, and the fact that Virgil - she will never call him that horrid nickname in her head - refused every offer to buy him new stuff, better stuff just irked her! Sophia didn't understand, didn't teenagers like expensive things?
"If you don't come with me, I will turn off the WiFi."
And that finally got a reaction.
Virgil looked at her with his mouth dropped, a horrified look in his eyes and - he probably didn't realize it - clutched his phone closer to him, as if protecting it "You wouldn't dare!" he exclaimed.
Sophia raised a brow "Try me." She challenged.
His eyes narrowed "The time when I get into your car to go and socialize, is the time where the sun rises in the middle of night, Hell freezes over, and Earth gets hit by a meteorite...twice...all at the same time." Virgil crossed his arms and glared, prepared to go down fighting.
...
...
..
Not even twenty minutes later, Virgil slammed the passengers door to the car shut, grumbling "Turning off the WiFi...What kind of evil person does that...I should sue...Unlawful child-something, I'll figure it out later...crazy woman..." He muttered to himself, while Sophia got in to the drivers seat.
Turning on the engine, Sophia looked out the window and searched the sky for something she couldn't see "Well Vir--Anxiety, I don't see any meteorites."
"Oh, Shut up!"
Hello everyone! Sweetix here! I just really wanted to write a Sanders Sides fanfiction but I wanted to do...More.
SO! By doing an Highschool AU, I create their back stories, but don't worry, they'll still the characters we all know and love! But be warned, it's not all sunshine and rainbows...
