Over time my soul began to lose it's spark, the part of me that burst with joy to be alive, now sat quietly and felt nothing but emptiness.
I had become dead inside, a lifeless corpse, numb to the bone with nothing left to lose, everything I have endured has led me to this point, my painful experiences made me what I am, a damaged mess. Soulless. The fire that once burned in my stomach became so faint, I wasn't sure if there was anything there at all.
I remember a time when I had such great, overwhelming passion surging through me, that my eyes even seemed to radiate electric energy, and it was in those moments that I almost didn't think I could contain myself anymore and everything would just explode out of me. The light that once emanated out of me started to fade into the darkness, it withered away until there was nothing left of it. I had fallen so far into the void, that there was nothing except an unending abyss. In fact I could barely recognize myself at all, when ever I gazed at myself in the mirror the face that I saw staring back at me didn't look like me anymore, something about her seemed familiar, yet there was something deeply haunting beneath her eyes, it was as if she were a shadow reflection of my former self now consumed by hellish nightmares, over the years she and I began to rot from the inside out, slowly I had become a stranger to myself, a prisoner in my own mind. I didn't know if I truly did exist in this reality at all, I wasn't sure of anything anymore. But I am getting too far a head of myself, allow me to take you back to the beginning and tell you the story of my unraveling...

I lay on a bed in complete and utter darkness, only just barely awake, giving my eyes a few minutes to adjust to my surroundings, once I can finally see clearly I began to assess where exactly I am. I'm in a small, box shaped room approximately the size of a prison cell, the walls are covered in wallpaper with little hummingbirds and branches all over them, the wallpaper is peeling off all over the place, I could see grey lurking beneath it, the walls look very old as if they've been worn down over time, the ceiling that lay above is white and has very large cracks all through out it, the floor is made of concrete and looks chipped up all over the place. I must say though that the door frightens me the most, the mere size of it baffles me, it is abnormally large, it must be 15 ft in height, the color is as black as night, it is made of iron and has steel bolts and chains all over it, it also has several heavy duty pad locks on the rest of it, it looks like a door handcrafted by Lucifer himself, which could mean that it would lead straight to hell, but I feared the only way out of this haunted cage was through the devil's door. There's another smaller door to the right of the humongous one, possibly a bathroom. There is little to nothing in this sick room, the few things that are in here is one twin bed that remains in the center of the room, a strange chair in the corner by a small window, and what looks like a bookshelf, which I noticed is filled with books. Other than that, it is empty, devoid of the warm feeling most rooms seem to have, something about it almost looks sad, it is clear nothing living has resided in this room for a very long time, it is seems haunted by something. If anyone had previously lived here, they were bound to have gone mad sooner or later. I have never seen a room like this before and I am grateful for it.

I soon realized that the condition of this room is probably the least of my worries right now, what lies beyond that door frightens me more. My fears began to take a hold of me, the more I try to plan an escape the more I lose control of myself, Harper get a grip and focus, I reminded myself. If I ever have a chance of getting out of here I will need to remain calm to do it. I was snapped out my thoughts when I heard a noise that sounded like a groan come from behind me, I turned around slowly to see a man sound asleep next to me, I immediately jumped up from the bed and stumbled backwards, tripping over my feet like the klutz that I am, I fell to the floor and as my butt hit the hard concrete it made a loud thud sound, I looked over towards the bed frantically, worried that I might have woken up the strange man, and just as I had anticipated, the man was no longer sleeping and was slowly sitting up, moaning and groaning as he did so, he began rubbing his eyes so he could see clearly, then after a little bit he looked over at me curiously.
"What are you doing?" The man asked.
I pushed myself up off the ground and yelped as I did so, I felt a sudden rush of pain in my butt that was beginning to ache, I swallowed it down and stood up straight.
