Ember couldn't help but smile, they were so soft and fluffy, she wishes she could snuggle them forever. But she has something she needs to do. She looked up at his soul, which still floated unharmed above her head, she smiled at it. The forest seemed to grow darker and darker, it was hard to tell if it was night or if the thickened trees were blocking out the sun. The second one it was, this was a spot of nocturnal creatures to live in. Though, her body glowed enough light so she could find her way. But she came across nothing.

It must be getting dark since she was growing tired. She couldn't tell, flying into the air wasn't working because she'd always get her face full of spider webs along with their owners. They'd burn off, but there were points where some wouldn't burn off. She needed to find somewhere to sleep, hiding in a thick bush should be enough. She walked to the nearest bush but only to be stopped, she couldn't move her body, she felt paralyzed. She struggled to move, seeing glistening strings tying her down. Raising her body temperature didn't help, it only burned the ground beneath her. Tiredness was taking her, she couldn't help but fall asleep, but awake long enough to hear a giggle echo through the trees.

                                        ~•~

Ember woke, finding herself being suspended in the air by those things once more. She moved and struggled but sure enough, she couldn't break free. But then a familiar giggle was heard, she looked around her frantically but to no avail. But directly above her, something was coming closer. First, a pale body of a human woman was coming closer, but then the back end of a spider followed, attached to her. Her long, black hair hung in her face, though only one eye could be seen through a part in it. Her eye was wide, her hands and arms skinny yet strong. Eight legs descended into air and grabbed onto the webbing around her. A black extension of her spider half extended up her spine, I spreading like ribs along her body, covering her chest. Her stomach in full view.

"What do we have here?" She asked with a wicked smile, tilting her head, her hair moving swiftly through the air. Ember had no words.

"I-I" the lady put her finger on her lips, stopping her from talking.

"Shh, don't speak. They could hear you." She said, Ember tilted her head in confusion, "You may now speak."

"First, who is they?" The spider got closer rather quickly, her eye even wider and she put her face into Ember's.

"They! The monsters! They seek the spirit of someone rare that's said to be more powerful than a spirit themselves!" She shouted, her front foreign from ear to ear, sharp fangs easily seen.

"Second, why am I here?" She asked, ignoring the lady's crazy talk. She spider backed away and crossed her arms.

"Widow doesn't exactly remember why Widow brought you here." She said, looking upwards.

"Can you let me go?" She asked, the spider shook her head.

"Widow has you for a reason- OH! Widow remembers now!" The spider then quickly left into the darkness, then coming back with a single string.

"What's that for?" The fox asked, the spider cane up to her and tied the string around her neck.

"Protection! You're the rare being, you see, they're after you." She was whispering at this point, "this is the spider web of a widow, the strongest thing in the forest. It will make your body become stronger."

"I thank you for giving me this." Ember thanked her with a smile, this time, instead of a creepy smile, it was genuine.

"No need, a spirit had asked Widow to give it to you." With this, her eyes widened.

"You know where a spirit is?!" She yelled, the spider quickly shushed her.

"No, she came to Widow, but she left quickly, she says she's looking forward to meeting you." The spider said, cutting Ember out of her webs. Ember couldn't believe her ears, she thanked Widow for all she's done and left, Ember had met many creatures, big and small, cute and creepy. She wondered, what would a spirit be like?
