As a writer I've always believed works of fiction can touch readers so deeply, whether that be feelings of happiness, anger, heartbreak, or the ugliness of real life but.... there still should be somewhat of a happy ending (at least in my books). This IS a work of fiction with made up characters, places and names; any reflection of real places or people is coincidence. With that being said, the content in this story is very near and dear to me and does happen in REAL life. Not only has some of the subjects in this story been personally experienced by me or loved ones, I have no doubt some of my readers have gone through it as well. Although I wanted to stay as close to the outcome certain devastating experiences can cause (not only to spread awareness but maybe bring a certain type of peace to someone in need) I want to have a positive outcome because I do believe things CAN get better. We as writers have the ability to transport readers into a different world but it doesn't ALWAYS have to mirror the bleakness of our own. So, have no fear, although this story will have twists and turns that might be heartbreaking (and you might find yourself hating me at certain point) I still stay true my characters but also try and give them their happy (realistic) ending.
