I'm letting my poems free
From the book that is the cage
that I lock them in
I want them to see the world
And I want the world to see them

To see that they are beautiful
and powerful
I know that they will have so much to
offer once their free
They will finally be seen

At the same time I want
to keep them there
I don't want them to fly away from me
As selfish as it sounds I want every
word, line, and stanza to stay trapped

In my book forever without
Seeing the light
Since I am scared that people
will judge them and that they
won't be in my protection anymore

However I know that if I
love them so much I should let them go
so that they can fly in the sky
And fly to others hearts
And give them the support that they gave me

I know that they can't
stay locked up in a book forever
How will they grow
How will they know the world
And how will the world know them

So, I will gladly open the cage
Where they will fly away
Page by page
Out into the open air
Away from the notebook that imprisons them
