*Chapter 05|Trust*

Start from the beginning

I didn't bother arguing and slipped on the black hoodie, I left my sweatpants on and stepped out of the room barefoot. I shouldn't have left my boots and jacket by the lake.

I look around and find Asher walking out of a room I assumed was his room. I stood where I was as he approached me, waiting for an explanation. He doesnt explain.

"Let's go," he grabbed my hand firmly as he adjusted the duffle bag on his shoulder and practically dragged me after him.

We left the cabin through the back door and strolled into the forest. The place was dark and stars coated the night sky. All I could hear was the sound of crickets and frogs singing to the moon, the place looks creepy at night. Scary and dangerous.

And to think, if I didn't follow them I'd be stuck out here - on my own.

"What are we doing out here?" I asked him. He simply shrugged with a playful grin on his face.

"Fun," he said shortly and I snorted.

"Nice answer," I muse and pulled my hand away from his grip but regretted it instantly, feeling too scared to walk on my own. "I'm not going anywhere until you tell me," I said and crossed my hands against my chest. What if he just wants to take me deep into the forest and bury me alive? It is settled, I was rescued by maniacs

"Don't make this harder than it already is," he scowled. "Just shut up and do what you are told for once in your freaking life," he snapped. I didn't reply. I suddenly dont want to go anywhere with him anymore. Douche.

We made it to a clearing and I saw a black Mercedes parked in it. It was hidden in the trees. I turned to him with an eyebrow raised. "What now?"

"We get in the car," he said while using a tone that made me look like an idiot, as he sat in the drivers seat and put the duffle bag at the back. I sat in the passengers seat and put on my seat belt as he drove. Safety first.

We went past the forest and into the streets, he drove in silence without keeping his eyes off the road. I occasionally gave him glances from the corner of my eyes but looked away when he caught me staring.

How is he so freaking beautiful?

He finally stopped the car at a building I didn't recognize and turned to me. "Listen, I'm sorry for what happened at dinner," he apologized and ran his hand through his hair. Why do boys always do that?

"Is that what you brought me all the way here for?" I ask him. Its not that deep.

His lips tug upwards but it leaves as fast as it comes, "that's not the reason," he replied, "but were cool right? Now that Ive apologized."

I shrugged and leaned back in my seat, staring at the darkness of the night sky from outside the glass window. "Its fine, I was over reacting anyways. But that Zoe chick still deserved that," I said, smiling at the memory. He smiled too.

"Yeah, she did," he said honestly. "But what I did was not cool, I shouldn't have invaded your privacy like that and revealed-"

"Whatever. Why are we here?" I interrupted and change the subject. I felt guilty too, I invaded their privacy more than they did to me.

He sighed and tossed a pair of sneakers in my direction. "Put these on, they may be a bit big, but they're all I got."

He was right, they were big. I could fit both my hands and two feet in one of the shoes and there'd still be space. I tightened the laces to make it less airy and let out a breath of satisfaction when done.

Asher jumped out of the car before getting the duffle bag from the backseat and motioned for me to follow him, I did so quietly. He grabbed my hand again, I dont know why he keeps doing that or why I get nervous when he does, I couldn't see because of the darkness but I could tell he was unaffected by the contact.

We walked down a brick walled passage before reaching a metal gate that a bald man with a uniform was guarding. When he saw us we were greeted with a smile.

"Asher," he cheered, "finally decided to show up," he said and Asher smirked at him. "Who's the chick?" the man asked, gesturing to me. I saw his eyes shamelessly rake down my body and I glared at him. There wasn't much to look at anyway.

"A friend," Asher said while pulling me behind him. "And off limits," he added, his voice had an edge to it that dared the man to say otherwise. The man laughed nervously.

"Relax dude, I was just asking," he raised his hands up in defense.

He opened the gate for us. "Disabled the alarms and cameras. Everyone's on break, you have thirty minutes kid, have fun," he said quietly, Asher shot him a grateful smile before tugging my hand.

We reached another gate, it was much larger but was a net. The only way to get around is to climb, Asher threw the bag to the other side and started to do just that.

"Asher! What are you doing? Is this even legal?!" He shushed me and glared.

"Do you trust me?" He asked, his eyes looked almost black but pierced into mine intensely. So that's why he's doing all of this, to gain my trust or friendship probably. He's scared I'll rant him and his gang out to daddy.

"No... Not really," I answered severely.

"Well, you should. Now climb over, don't be useless now Bianca," he said.

I rolled my eyes at him and began to climb. When I reached the top I jumped down gracefully. Climbing fences is something I'm used to doing.

"Duck."

I gasped, "where?"

Asher sharply and pulled me down, away from the watch light. "You cant be that stupid, he said, giving me an amused look.

"I was just kidding."

He shakes his head, "come on," he whispered, "put on your hood."

Asher and I put on our hoods, I made sure it was low enough to cover half of my face.

We crept quietly to the front of the building and my eyes widen. Asher opened the duffle bag and brought out a can of bright blue spray paint, my mouth opened in shock.

"Were vandalizing the museum?" I whisper yelled. "That's it? I climbed over a fence and nearly broke my face, for this?" He shrugged.

"It's part of what we came here for," he said and tossed me a can.

"What did we come here for?" I ask him as I shake the can.

"This isnt just any museum, its one of the best in the country. There is something I want to... borrow from here, I needed help."

"And you chose me?"

"What better way is there to get to know each other?" he said with a wink and turned back to the wall he was spray painting on.

"What are you painting?"

"The gang logo," he says without turning to me. "Come help."

"I dont know what it looks like," I tell him as I approached.

"Doesnt matter. You ready to make some badass art?"

"Yes."

"Don't tire yourself out, cause this isn't the only place we're going tonight," he said, and picked up another color of spray paint from the bag. He drew the figure while I handled the coloring.

This is going to be a long night.
