Nico ran through the forest, and climbed the tree, before sitting in the top quietly, wrapping himself in shadows. He hugged himself tightly as two people ran below the tree he was in, calling his name. He knew they meant well, but he just couldn't...
Hazel, Percy, and Frank were dead. They'd gone on a small quest, a retrieval quest, to help get some young demigods. They were jumped, by a chimera. Hazel and Frank were the first to go. Hazel had been holding onto Frank's firewood, and when she was blasted by the fire, she and Frank were both killed. Percy had desperately fought, trying to protect the new demigods and himself, but it wasn't enough. He was bitten, but fought on. Backup arrived just as he fell to the ground, dead. The chimera was subdued, the bodies brought back, the young demigods still alive. Then, Nico found out the news. He'd run from the dining pavilion, blasted past the borders of CHB, and climbed the tree, hidden.
He waited until Annabeth and Thalia had returned to CHB before releasing the shadows, and starting to cry. He kept crying until the sun came up. He started to walk, letting himself wander. He didn't realize where he was until he tripped over a gravestone. It was a small graveyard, usually empty. He sat down on a gravestone, and put his head in his hands, before starting to sob again. He tensed, and was about to do something, when he was wrapped in ropes and chains. He tried to shadow travel, and screeched out in pain when he couldn't.
"It's Anubis!" A man said. He was dressed in weird clothes, linen, it seemed.
"Should we banish him?" Another asked. The man examined him, and grinned, showing off his yellow teeth.
"Nah, this isn't Anubis. But, we can use him to summon and trap Anubis! Grab him, Angus!" He said, and dropped Nico. Unable to use his hands, he cried out as his forehead smashed into a gravestone, and his vision went black.
He woke up in a weird room, with a group of people gathered around him. They were chanting, and hieroglyphs were swirling around him. He tried to pull away, but cried out as the chains, which seemed to be lined with spikes, bit into his skin. He tried to shadow travel away again, and yelped as the chains grew hot and burnt him. He watched as a group of kids were brought in, and a ceremonial knife was handed to a man. His eyes widened as he realized what was happening, and tried to shout out, but he was gagged. Tears streamed down his face as he screamed out, from pain, from helplessness, from the feeling of young and innocent souls departing. He screamed, and cried, and sobbed, but he couldn't do a thing as the people poured the blood from the kids onto his face, and ripped out the gag to pour it into his mouth.
Anubis sat in the graveyard, talking with Sadie, when he felt a splitting pain in his head. He gasped, forcing himself not to scream, as he fell to his knees on the ground. His hand dug into the ground, gouging marks in it.
"Anubis? Anubis!" Sadie cried. He bit his lip as the pain increased. It felt like someone was cutting into his skull, and pulling his consciousness, his self, out of it! He held onto the graveyard, but it was no use. He tried to say something to Sadie, but it was too late. He was dragged through the Duat, and then back out, and found himself in the body of a mortal! No, not a mortal... Not a god either. The person was very much alive as well, and he felt their consciousnesses twine together, wrapping until there was no way to pull them apart.
Nico screamed out again as he felt a feeling like somebody was filling his head with lava. But then, suddenly, the feeling was gone. He laid there, panting and gasping, as silence filled the room. Then, he heard a voice in his head.
'What happened?' The voice asked.
"Who are you?" Nico asked.
'Who are YOU?' The voice replied.
