Vessel

Devouring the flame,
I sit with my hands inside of my eyes,
And I wonder why I cannot see,
Romance is the remedy,
A kiss is the nighttime wind on my skin,
Sex is a stream of tears melting in,
I will not forget the flame,
But I will lose sight of my body,
All I ever wanted was somebody to dream with me,
Am I so alone,
Am I a blanket with moth eaten holes,
Why am I so alone?

Look at those hands,
Tell me what they say about you,
Has the devil had his way with them,
Or do you defy such things,
My hands are as large as the contents of the whole,
They drag behind me as I walk,
The lines drawn on the skin are roadways,
A village of men and women tug and pull them,
All I've ever been good for was my dreams,
I'm no use without my imaginative brain,
But all I ever wanted was somebody to think like me,
Am I so alone,
Am I a steeple only meant for show,
Why am I so alone?
