It had already passed two weeks since Leo was in New York. He and Kate Skyped every night, and they texted each other throughout the day.

Leo sipped in his coffee, trying to wake up. It was really early. He had tried to keep drinking tea to remind himself of Kate, but no other tea tasted the way Kate's did. He had realized it was the little details he missed the most. The way Kate smiled before laughing, the way the tea tasted, the way Mia practiced for her play that reminded him so much of a younger version of Kate, or the way Joe and Bear made him play outside with them.

He sighed softly. He was in a small break for lunch, but he still had twenty minutes before having to return and he had already finished eating. His phone ringed and a new message appeared on screen.

"Hello, babe. How are you?"

He grinned, texting his reply.

"Hi, Kit Kat. I'm fine, how are you?"

Leo had been quite worried about Kate, since she told him that Ned had been there. He had a feeling Kate was hiding something, but he didn't want to pressure her to tell him, because the least he wanted was having an argument with her.

"I'm fine. I miss you loads, and so do the kids."

"Tell them I miss them too, would ya?"

"When you call me tonight, you can tell them yourself. But, yes, I'll tell them."

"I miss your kisses, babe."

Leo could almost picture her grinning.

"I miss your kisses too, among other things."

"You're fucking naughty, Katie. Remember me to punish you when I get back."

"You're such a pervert."

"I'll call you tonight, okay? Take care."

"Sure, you too."

Leo smiled and went back to work, thinking about Kate once again.
                                                                                                             .
"How was school?" Kate asked, smiling at her kids.

"I passed my algebra test, which can be considered a miracle." Mia said, leaving her backpack at the floor. "But the play is going great. Perhaps you and Uncle Leo could go to a rehearsal when he comes back."

Kate smiled, delighted that her oldest wanted them at the rehearsal. "That would be nice. What about you, Joe?"

"My rugby match is on Saturday. We're training really hard to win."

She turned to Bear, kissing his cheek and picking him up.

They didn't know that Ned had been there, and Kate had covered the bruise that had formed on her cheek with makeup, so nor the kids or Leo noticed it.

They talked about school for a few more minutes, then they decided to watch a movie. Finally, Kate got a notification.

"Hello, sweetheart." Leo said when his face popped up in the screen.

She smiled brightly. "Hey, babe."

"Are the kids there?"

"Yes, they are." She said, turning the laptop so he could see the kids.

"Uncle Leo!" Bear said, clapping.

Kate smiled, bringing the kids closer so they could all talk to Leo. Finally, after a few minutes, the kids said they goodbyes and she walked towards her study, closing the door.

They talked for a few hours, not noticing the time ticking by. When they finally noticed, they wished each other goodnight.

"Good night, Leo. I love you."

"Goodnight, darling. I love you more."

They ended the call, smiling because it wasn't much left until they saw each other again.
