Hey guys!
I haven't updated this book in a while. Mainly because I currently have my hair in box braids which I plan to take out on the 10th February. I thought I would share some facts about why you need oils, which oils are good to use and which oils I personally use.

Different oils are better for different purposes. The thicker types of oils such as Jamaican Black Castor Oil, are better at sealing the moisture of whatever you put underneath (e.g. Leave in conditioner, water etc). Whereas thinner oils such as Olive Oil are better to use to moisturise your hair (not by itself, of course). The thickness of your hair will most likely determine what oils are best for your hair. For example, I get a lot of people that say to me, "how can you use Jamaican Black Castor Oil on the length of your hair? That oil is to thick for my hair".

The word my is key. Everyone's hair is different, and what works for one person may not work for you. I know many people say that but I cannot stress it enough. The oils that I use on my hair are based on the oils which I have tried out and found worked best on my hair rather than ones which my favourite natural hair youtubers use. Of course, I do take the oils they use into consideration but there's no point me using Avocado oil on my hair because someone else uses it when my hair hates it. Anyways, I will get onto my oil blend and my opinion on a few of the most popular oils out there.

Oil blend recipe:

I pour the ingredients straight into my applicator bottle rather than literally measuring it out, but it is the ratios that are important.

I pour in 1/3 of Argan Oil, 1/3 of Olive Oil, 1/6 of Coconut Oil (melted) and 1/6 of Jamaican Black Castor Oil.

That's it! I usually use this on my hair daily as the "O" in my LOC method.

Coconut Oil:
This used to be the only oil I used until I realised that it doesn't really do anything to moisturise my hair. I still use it before I co-wash, and in my oil blend but never alone (make sure to buy the "cold pressed" and "100% coconut oil" one).

Olive Oil:
One of the main oils my hair loves. Whenever I do a hot oil treatment, this is the main oil I use. I also use it in my oil blend as it makes my hair feel super soft. This oil turns out to be quite cheap as I just use the olive oil from the kitchen.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil:
I am going to start using this on my edges. I love this oil. I usually only use it on it's own when I'm about t put my hair into a protective style.

Argan Oil:
My hair loves this as much as olive oil. I only use this in my oil blend as Argan oil can be quite pricey, so I use it in moderation.
