they told me i wouldn't miss it
i believed them
and i do
i still do
it's deeper than that
darker than that
it's a longing
a longing so intense that
i regret even leaving

i long for those suffocatingly
silent nights
and tear-stained pillowcases
stumbling in after dark
drowning in self destruction

if what I missed was a place
it would be
a hollow shell of a home
with a shaky foundation
cracks in the ceiling
and holes punched in the walls

and this place
oh this place
it's a place i never wanted to stay
but somehow knew
i could never leave
