During the hot weather of the awaited summertime vacations that both students and teachers anticipated for so long, the sky for many, shined warmly on Seoul and embraced the beginning of a refreshing summer full of rest, serenity and thought out activities for those who want to visit different parts of the world.
Or just some family members that lived far away.
As the last bell rang on the huge school campus, the seniors sighed and wooed while stretching their arms in joy, finally free of school and studying for the next few months. A few screams of joy in the background from different classes too.
"Alright, everyone!" The teacher banged her hand on the small podium in front of her, "I know this is your last day here and that you all want to scatter out, but I have one final announcement to make..."
"Auughh..." the students cried in grief, half of them with their stuff packed and ready to go being stopped midway of running away.
"I know, I know... it'll be quick I promise..." she reassured the students, signaling them to sit down. What're another 5 minutes?
"Well... I just wanted to say that I'm pleased all of you grew up well these past 3 years that I've taught you... and how y'all still endured to stay as noisy and childish as you did on your first year..."
The students giggled at her remark, all of them feeling quite heavy-hearted since they were in the last day of their senior year in high school, all of them ready to board a new stage of their life with a strange environment they'll ultimately get used to.
"I know I was firm with you guys sometimes, and I get it, I was, if you don't believe, young too. I did it because I care who you decide to become...
What you want to be as a person.
I've never felt closer to a group of students who've overcome many obstacles... many hard times... Gosh, I felt like I was your mother from time to time.
It made me happy nonetheless.
I just want to wish you success in your future studies... and that no matter what happens, you mustn't give up on your first try... after all, you're still kids that learn from mistakes"
Some of the girls were shedding tears, reminiscing about the fun memories they've made here in the classroom. Some of the boys were too, shedding some tears here and there, for they were never going to see Miss Jung Jae Hee again, the beautiful teacher that gave Spartan-like lessons to them, but that had an affectionate heart when it came to those who had a troublesome time grasping the information up their heads.
"We're gonna miss you teach!" A girl on the back squealed with glee, feeling like she was going to weep any minute now if she didn't say anything.
"You're the best!" Another student yelled.
"We won't forget you!" A couple of girls said.
The classroom started getting mushy, cheering their praises to their teacher.
Jae Hee, despite being a stern professor, always had a soft spot for these rascals.
She gave them a warm smile while she crossed her arms.
"You little brats... I guess you have everything under control... then, have a great summer and the best of luck to you all" she waved her hand, finally freeing the student making them scream in delight.
At last, summer was here to be enjoyed!
Half of the class, in groups or alone, left the classroom shrieking and racing towards the exit.
The other half stayed in the classroom talking to Miss Jae Hee, thanking her for everything and asking her for some pointers on how to survive college and what not, she delightedly giving them what she learned based on experiences.
