the music was pulsing throughout my body, the hard ivory keys had merged into soft, welcoming cushions, my fingers dancing across them with ease, my mind completely detached from the external world. at times like these, when i really connected with music, i knew that that's who i was.
a shadow glided past my window. i was snapped out of my trance as i stopped playing to look. the figure had gone and just as i was about to begin playing again, another figure approached my door.
expecting her to pass in a relaxed flourish as per usual, she slowed down, looked at me with her head tilted and her eyes confused. after a moment she leant against the door, pushing it open and curved her head around.
"do you have a moment?" she seemed like her mind was preoccupied with some other thoughts.
"yeah... yeah of course. what for?" i couldn't understand why she was in my practice room. shes never even spoken to me before.
"no-one else is around and i was wondering if you could test me on my piano scales? i have the book right here." she thrusted it under my nose and flinched.
"of course, you don't have to," she added, but i'd already agreed. i nodded eagerly, maybe a little too eagerly.
"great, that's such a huge help," she was already dumping her rucksack on the floor and adjusting the piano stool.
"you ready?" i asked.
"course i am," she smirked back at me.

laying in the bath that evening, all i could think about was my encounter with Mika earlier on. the way her face scrunched up when she made a subtle mistake. the way she rocked back and forth, her hands bouncing up from the keys at every touch.
ariana's 'moonlight' began to play in the background. i sunk into the tub even lower, immersing myself in the dense bubbles. i could only imagine mika with me in the bath. i wanted her so desperately to be here with me, listening to this song... our song.
