Chapter 4: Dinner

Alexandra's POV

At around six in the afternoon, we finally got to go home. Sofia and I dropped off Jemma at her place. I checked the dashboard for the time and saw that its still early "Do you want to do anything?" I asked the girl on my passenger seat.

She shrugged

"Joy ride?" I asked tapping the steering wheel looking at the goddess. Damn, I think I fell in love with my best friend already without even knowing. She's not even doing anything yet I can't help but to admire her beauty.

She smiled at me sending butterflies on my stomach "Can we?" she asked excitedly

"Anything you want, princess" I told her shifting the gear

"I miss doing this" she said leaning forward checking the glove compartment. She grabbed the CD album "Damn, you kept this?" she asked

I grinned "Of course" I told her as she pulled out a CD and inserted it. It loaded for a couple of seconds.

'I look at her and have to smile. As we go driving for a while' started the song Passenger Seat by Stephen Speaks.

Sofia started singing along making me grin 'her hair blowing in the open window of my car and as we go the traffic lights' she sang.

When the chorus came, I joined in, singing in harmony with Sofia 'and I've got all that I need right here in the passenger seat' Damn this song is very relatable 'oh, and I can't keep my eyes on the road, knowing that she's inches from me' So freaking true, throughout the drive, I kept glancing at the brunette seating on my passenger seat.

As we drive around, music was playing on the background and Sofia was humming along "You hungry?" I asked

"I see you've developed your power to read minds like me" she joked

I smiled and exited the highway towards a service station and I parked near a diner called 'Aunt Bessie's Diner'. We went in and slip into a booth. There aren't much customers inside. A waitress with straight, medium length, black hair walked towards our booth and handed us the menu and we thanked her. She smiled and winked at me and walked back to the counter and proceeded what she was previously doing. "So, what do you want?" I asked the girl seating next to me who clearly witness what just happened

"What is it about you attracting everyone?" she asked

I smirked "This sexy face" I told her. "Well, not everyone likes me" I added

She gave me a confused look "Tell me one person that doesn't like you" she said

"You" I said and looked down on the menu

"You are right" she said

I sighed "So, are you going to order anytime this year?" I asked. After a couple of minutes, Sofia told me what she wanted, and I walked to the same waitress. She looked up and smiled as I approach her "HI" I said casually

"Hey" she answered

"Umm... so can she get the chicken nugget large meal with fries and strawberry milkshake" I told her as she tapped the screen "And... can I have the chicken burger meal with fries and chocolate milkshake" I told her, and I looked up from the menu

"Would that be everything?" she asked, "Would you and your girlfriend be interested in ordering desserts?"

Girlfriend? I wish, I thought. "She's not my girlfriend" I told her "Umm...what do you recommend?" I asked

"The apple pie is really good topped with vanilla ice cream" she suggested

"That seems nice. We'll get two" I gave her a smile

She smiled at me "I'll serve it to you after your meal" she said. "That'll be 550" she said

I tapped my card and looked at the girl in the booth with her head leaning on her hand looking outside the window.

"Here's you receipt" the waitress said handing me a piece of paper and something caught my eye. There was a phone number at the bottom and 'Call me' written next to it.

I smiled at the waitress and walked to booth

"Had fun flirting with the waitress?" the girl asked. I showed her the receipt and winked "I can't believe you"

"Jealous?" I mocked

"You wish" she said

Sofia's POV

When we were eating I think Xan noticed that I was quiet "Something wrong?" she asked

I shook my head "Just trying to concentrate on my food" I told her. To be honest, when she was talking to the waitress, I felt something tugging my insides. I saw them smiling at each other and seemed to be having fun in their own world.

When Xan showed me the receipt I felt like someone punched my insides. Huh? I never really felt anything like this before, strange.

The drive home was quiet. Xan knows me too much she knows when to give me a breather, so she just focused on driving. But when I glanced at her I can see in her eyes that she wants to uncover what's inside my brain and take it away.

She gently stopped in front of my house and still haven't said anything. I opened the door and went out. But when I reached the gate I felt a hand on my shoulder forcing me to turn around "tell me what's going on?" she asked softly

I looked into her brown eyes and saw desperation "I'm just tired" I lied. "I'll b—"

Before I could saw anything else she engulfed me into a tight hug. Right in that moment I felt like I just went bungee jumping and my heart did a backflip. I just stood there in shock. I inhaled and smelt a hint of mint on her shirt. "They said when you hug someone for thirty seconds they'll feel better" she said on my ear. I can feel her chest going up and down. I hope she doesn't hear my heart pounding.

I snaked my arms around her waist and felt her tense up but then relaxed "Where did you here that?" I murmured

"An anime called Love is like a Cocktail" she said. I can't help but to love her innocent side. It's the only way I can get out of this cruel reality. She somehow forms a bubble around us keeping everything away whenever I'm with her. "Ok, that's 30 seconds" she said. No. She moved back just a bit and now were facing each other "Feel better?" she asked looking straight into my soul.

I smiled and nodded in agreement

She cupped my cheeks surprising me. She moved forward, and I closed my eyes. I can feel her breathing getting closer then something soft touched my forehead "Good night, princess" she said with a gentle smile.
