My arm rested on Jungkook's as I entered the event feeling underdressed and overwhelmed. My boyfriend seemed to sense this and placed his arm around the small of my back, his hand resting just above my hip in the curve of my waist. I looked up at him to catch the cheeky but warm smile dash across his lips, one his broad shoulders overlapping with my own.
BTS were invited to a party for their success and I was their plus one. Specifically, Jungkook's plus one. My eyes scanned the busy room full of cameramen, producers, choreographers, make-up artists, CEOs and special guests (which were other KPOP groups, Big Hit trainees and anyone BTS wanted there) in search of the other members. I found Tae and Hoseok immediately, my eyes being drawn to the raucous laughter instinctively. They were curled over with laughter as we're several people I didn't recognise, my gaze drifted again to land on Jimin and Jin talking to some staff, the conversation looking pleasant and friendly. Lastly, my eyes stumbled on Yoongi and Namjoon who were in a deep and serious talk with older looking men who were probably CEOs of Big Hit or very influential.
I exhaled slightly, acknowledging that I didn't belong here and before I could inhale, we were swamped with party goers.
A blonde girl in a revealing hot pink dress with a tiny waist and long legs smiled at Jungkook adoringly.
"Jungkookie!"
I swallowed my throat feeling like it was closing up, I turned to my boyfriend, "I'm going to get a drink, you want anything?"
"No thanks babe," he smiled and released my waist.
My body feeling lost without his touch, I numbly made my way to the bar, taking a cool flute of champagne, the glass frosted with condensation.
I walked back over to him to see her clinging to his arm, giggling like she was stuck in a high school romance. A felt a bitter jealously cloy my throat. This bitch. I took a sip, "Jungkook you never told me you were married."
He looked at me quizzically, confused, "There's no other reason for her to be so damn clingy." I answered his non-existent question, my voice flat and sour as I lightly pushed her hand from him.
"So this is your girlfriend Jungkook?" The bitch spoke, "I never thought you'd go for someone..." Her eyes flickered up and down my enraged being, choosing her venomous words carefully, "...who doesn't deserve you."
I swallowed hard and turned to look at Jungkook, who wore an expression of shock across his gorgeous features. Then he laughed; a bubbly giggle that was as light and intoxicating as the alcohol in my hand.
I felt myself freeze over before taking a sip and turning on my heel, leaving them there chuckling.
I found myself back at the bar, the champagne glass empty and a soju in my hand. I sat, expecting Jungkook to come up behind me and explain himself, fuck I wish I never came. I felt tears brew in the back of my eyes - I couldn't cry, not now, not here.
I felt a presence by my side, I knew it wasn't Jungkook, it was smaller and brotherly. "Hi Jimin," I spoke, my warm breath brushing my frozen fingers wrapped around the glass.
He sat beside me, "Hi" he smiled gently, the compassion in his eyes melting my frosty façade I had in place to stop the tears before they started.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," I smiled, the expression burning my numb cheeks.
"You only drink soju when you're upset, chubs," he teased gently, he knew me too well for me to evade his care.
I couldn't even reply to him, my vision grew blurry and clouded, not with the alcohol but tears. Strong hands pulled me into a warm embrace, rubbing his hands up and down my back soothingly. "Jimin, why is he such an ass sometimes?"
"Because he is Jeon Jungkook, the golden maknae. You put a man with an angel's face and a devil's cheekiness in charge of your heart, but it's okay because he worships you like a goddess." He spoke calmly and I felt my tears dissipate, his empathy seeping through me.
After another minute we pulled apart and I slid closer to him to rest my head in the nape of his neck, my eyes sliding shut, exhaustion overtaking me as I found peace from the cocktail of anticipation, fear and pressure that burned in my throat.
"Shit." Jimin's voice vibrated through me, I kept my eyes shut, not wanting to be pulled from the tranquillity, "What is it Chim?"
"Tae texted me. Jungkook has been looking for you." I opened my eyes and sat up from Jimin, feeling a mix of passion, confusion and panic filling the space where the peace was.
"Guess I had better go find him." I said emptily, standing from my seat.
He tutted slightly, grabbing my wrist, "Let him come to you chubs."
I smirked at Chim's suggestion and sank back into the chair, taking up the glass once more; letting the soju tingle my lips with a sip. "How's my make-up?"
Jimin gave me a sideways smile, his grin creeping into his pretty eyes, "You look as beautiful as ever, despite the smudge by your lips and your mascara running."
I gasped and delved into my clutch to peer at my face through my phone to see my make-up was still set in place.
"AISH PARK JIMIN!" I exclaimed, hitting his arm, "That is not funny!"
"You should have seen your face," He laughed uncontrollably and I couldn't feign my anger any longer at the adorable mochi.
I began laughing too, every apprehension melting into happiness when a large hand gripped my shoulder. From that point of contact, I felt ice run through my veins, freezing my body in place, my mouth open from the memory of joy.
I was turned around to meet the angel, his dark hair, hanging over his glittering eyes. I couldn't tell if they sparkled in rage, lust or sorrow. His suited shoulders looked broader from where I sat looking up at him, and suddenly I found my confidence. I brushed his hand from my shoulder and turned away from him and back to my drink.
"Divorced already Jeon?"
I heard his breathing close in my right ear and hit the nape of my exposed neck as he drew closer. His firm chest was pressed against my bare back, his arms looped around my waist protectively.
"The only person I'll marry is you."
His voice was low and stable and like always, it sent shivers through me from the contact point of his chest to my fingertips.
"And I have no intention of ever leaving you."
I turned my head to look at him and found his chiselled face closer than I expected. He lightly pressed his lips to mine in the sweetest kiss, my left hand moving to grasp his soft hair and hold him to me.
We separated slowly and I found myself lost in his expressive eyes as he spoke -
"I love you."
I chuckled, "You'd better."
We loosened our hold on each other and entwined our fingers as we walked back to the main room. "I laughed because that bitch couldn't get more stupid. I told her to leave but by then you were already gone... I'm sorry." Jungkook said softly, his sincerity ached my heart,
"You deserve the world."
I smiled, my chest on fire with affection, "Jeon Jungkook, you are my world."
