Myra's POV:
Ah. My bed has never felt this good in such a looong time.
I snuggle in the blanket for more warmth, and to my dismay, it didn't produce as much as I needed. Which meant to say that my best brunette, Selah, had left me to freeze.
"Selah," I groan from under the covering. "Where are youuuuu?"
"I'm right here," came her calm reply. As I managed to come out and scan around looking for her, our eyes met and I stare at her for a few quick seconds. She had already dressed into her red sweater and jeans from yesterday. Her silky dark hair was let down as always with a happy twist to it. Her eyes were tired, but her voice was filled with excitement.
"I've never really stayed this long at your house before. Anyways, what do ya wanna do?"
"I don't know," I admit honestly and collapse on my pillow in a dramatic pose. In return, I earn a chuckle from her.
"I'm hungry though. I haven't eaten in like, hours," I say grumpily. "I. NEED. FOOD."
"We can go ask your mom, y'know," Selah says while looking at me and wiggling her eyebrow as if I were a five year old.
"Yeah, yeah. I totally didn't forget that," I mock her voice.
"Myra-."
"Breakfast is ready, girls," my mom interrupted, unlocking my door and studied the each of us.
"I heard your stomach growl from when I was in the kitchen, Myra," Mom says jokingly while giving me a slight wink. "And, Selah, I hope you enjoy breakfast. So, c'mon. We don't want to keep the food waiting."
We both head began to head towards the kitchen when . .
"Um, Mrs. White, I forgot to put on my socks," she says bluntly. Wow, really?
"You can go put them on and then you can come back," Mom offered. She gave a small smile and returned to the kitchen.
"Myra, come with me," she says, motioning to me.
"But whyyyyy?" I whine. I didn't want to go back. Not while I was this close to food.
"C'mon," She nudged me. "You'll need your socks too."
As soon as she finished saying that, I look down at my feet. I was bare footed and super cold. I guess she was right.
"Okay," I say simply. I follow her back to my bedroom and pull out my thick purple socks and put them on. She then puts on her regular gray socks.
" 'Kay, let's go."
When we exited, I noticed something in Mom's office. It was a new rug that I'd never seen. It was mostly red with purple linings and gold swirls. It looked pretty interesting.
"Woah. That's really pretty," Selah commented. She steps forth and walks to the front of it.
Before I could comprehend what was happening, she somehow slipped and flipped over the rug with her left foot.
What-?
"Agh," she moaned in pain.
"Oh my goodness, Selah, are you okay and what on earth is that?" I point to the wooden trapdoor behind her. What. I didn't even know we had a trapdoor. And I've been living in this house for seven years!
"Huh? Wha?" She turns around and almost drops her jaw in surprise. "When did that get here?"
"I don't know, to be honest. Let's ask my parents." I start to walk, but she grabbed hold of my wrist.
"Wait. Maybe we could explore a little before we tell them?" She pleaded hopefully.
I sigh a little. "Selah, we're expected to be in the kitchen, and I don't want to get them mad."
"I know, but like for a few minutes, I bet they won't mind."
"Uh, ok. Just one minute." I open the trapdoor. When I look down, I see a long ladder leading all the way down somewhere. I can't see the bottom. Oh, cream puffs. This is a bad idea.
"I'm scared. I don't wanna go down anymore." I turn away, but she pulls me back.
"Don't worry. I'll go first and you can come after. It'll be fine," she tries to calm me. Even though it did no good, I nodded anyways.
"Okay." She steps down on the ladder and goes down step by step. . .
"Wait, wait for me!" I step down on the ladder and follow her foot steps.
After a few minutes . . .
"How long is this thing?" I ask, frustrated and exhausted.
"No clue," she replies, her voice echoing. I have no idea how far down she is. We continued going down when. .
¡ᴄʀᴀᴄᴋ!
The ladder below me suddenly fell. I felt that we were falling deeper and deeper into something. It felt like it would never end.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Selah and I scream at the top of our lungs.
Selah and I continue to scream until I can no longer manage. My throat mysteriously goes dry and the darkness consumes my vision.
Later . . .
Tender music flowed into my ears. Whatever I am lying on feels like heaven cause it is soooo comfy! Like, where am I? Oh, wait! I fell, didn't I? Oh, cream puffs, I'm in trouble . . !
My eyes blink open. When I finish taking in the house sized room with lots of furniture and a whole lot of garbage, my eyes are locked with people I've never met before. A woman, and several men. All of them dressed in weird medieval costumes. Dude, they're so realistic!
Beside me is Selah. I start to shake her.
"What. What. What. WHAAAAAAT," she moaned and her eyes fluttered open.
"Um," she began as she casted her eyes on the room and then. "This isn't your room."
"Oh, Alexis, Anna! You're finally awake! I was so worried about the two of you!" The brunette woman weeped happily. She was dressed in a medieval green dress that I'd never seen before.
Wait, Alexis? Anna?
Selah and I look back at each other in shock.
"Selah, this isn't my bedroom."
