The birds tweet in the golden light of the sun on the beautiful Wednesday morning. Ugh, I think, thanks for rubbing it in my face birds. You don't have to go to school today. I roll out of bed and grab my phone from my nightstand. Walking out of my room and through the hallway, I hear my twin brother's hard rock music blaring from his phone. As if on cue, he cranks up the volume as I walk by his door. I bang on his door and shout,"Cliff! Cliff! Open the door! Turn it down!" There's a long pause and no sound from the other side of the door except the music. "Ok, that's it I'm coming in!" I shout and burst through the door. He obviously doesn't see me come in because he doesn't move from where he is standing. He was in the middle of the room in his underwear and a t-shirt. His dark brown hair is thrown in front of his face as he whips his head to the music. He drops to his knees, and he starts playing his air guitar as a solo comes on. I slowly walk in front of him making sure to step around any dirty clothes on the floor. I wave my hands in front of his face until he notices me. "Turn it down!" I yell at him over the music. He stares up at me with confusion. He mouths, What? "Turn it down!" I yell one last time. Finally understanding me, he stands up, runs over to his nightstand, and pauses the song. Finally, I think, my eardrums can breathe. Pun intended.
"Why? What is so important to stop my amazing guitar solo?" he asks with his eyebrows raised.
"Please. I could do better in my sleep, with a real guitar," I respond with my arms crossed over my chest.
"Yeah whatever. What do you need? I know you hate to come in this 'Pig Pen' according to you," he says forming quotes with his fingers.
"Your music is way too loud to be blaring at 6:30 in the morning. So please turn it down," I ask with a half hearted smile.
"Really? Since when did you become incharge of me? I am older than you," he responds with a smirk on his face. Of course, I think, when does he ever stop behaving like a child. We're 16 for crying out loud.
"You are older than me by five minutes, can't you just let it go? Fine. Don't turn it down and let mom yell at you," I say finishing the conversation and walking out of his room. I make sure to walk around his dirty clothes scattered around the floor. I walk into the bathroom to take a shower. Turning on my phone, I shuffle my Shower playlist, making sure to turn up the volume. I like to tease my brother, he makes it just too easy. I jump in the shower and start to sing along to the song playing on my phone.

My heart's a stereo
It beats for you so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every note

I quickly finish knowing I spend most of my time getting ready for school by yelling at Cliff. I dry my hair and get dressed. While I'm blow drying my hair, my mom knocks on the door and says, "Sky, we are leaving in 10 minutes. So get your butt ready." I quickly pull my light blue jeans over my legs and pull my black cami over my head. Slipping on my pink pullover, I put on my white converse and tie them. My natural wavy hair falls over my shoulders. I take one last look in the mirror before running out of the door. My mom hands me a bagel and says,"Go grab your phone, I'll make sure your siblings are all ready to go. Oh, and don't forget to meet with your tutor after school." She runs off ducking her head into every room to make sure we are all ready to go. Beep Beep!
Crap, that's the bus, I think looking out the living room window. "Mom, the bus is here!" I sling my backpack over my shoulder. Cliff runs out the door with bagel, backpack, and phone in hand. He trips on his untied shoelaces as he walks towards the bus. My younger sister Clementine, who is 14, runs out the door next. Then comes my older brother Colt, who is 17 ½. He speeds out the door as well. My mom walks into the kitchen with Everest, who is 2, and Fawn, who is 4, on both of her hips. I have one more older sister named Willow, she's 20. All of us kids look like our dad. We all have bright blue-green eyes and dark brown hair. The order is Willow, Colt, Cliff, Sky (me), Clementine, Rocky, Fawn, and Everest, the baby.
"Rocky's sick, so he can't go to school today," my mom says with a frown. "Now you hurry up and get on the bus before they leave."
"Ok. I love you, Mom. I'll see you after my tutoring session," I say trying to put a fake smile on my face.
"That's the spirit! It's going to be a great day if you say it is," my mom responds with a wide smile. "I love you too, Sweetheart." Hopefully today won't be so bad...
