I want to be brand new
My soul devoid of blue
Just as clear as an infant's mind
My one wish, this one time
I want to be brand new
My heart free of you
Like a stain-free shirt
Free of soil, free of hurt
I want to be brand new
My mind's thoughts not subdued
Like shoes without the laces
Lack of weight, lack of traces
But....
I am aged and worn
My soul tattered and torn
As if I were a blown-out tire
Time is up, time to expire
I am aged and worn
My heart, by you, now forlorn
Like a monument crumbling
Hard to watch, hard to flee
I am aged and worn
My mind's thoughts now mourn
As if witness to a child dying
Non-stop loss, non-stop crying
I want to brand new
But I am aged and worn
Yet, each day can offer life
And that is what tables this strife.
