Ode To Starlight

I never wanted to be the golden dusk.
Watched, waited for,
anticipated.
That romantic scene
of burning passion
inspiring love and longing
before it fades away.
A simple decay of light
into dark.
But briefly,
and only at its peak,
the vast spectrum of colours
So beautiful in our heavens
that thousands watch
and wait
and anticipate.

I wanted to be the twilight sky.
The expanse of darkness
decorated with light so enchanting
that it draws the eye
before the void can.
The twilight is a constant.
It can beguile
and seduce
but also soothe
and remain.
Reliable, that thousands anticipate,
but do not await,
and that only those who truly love the stars
watch.
