Autumn Befalls

The Northern Wind is coming down, bringing Nora

She stays at my windowsill and wakes me with her song

The vibrant shades turn golden-red as they fly along

Tears blur visions cold nights, sweaters, and dead branches

Spices fill the hot drinks as scarf protect voices from her touch

Cloudy skies dampen feelings until the warmth of love knocks

Good friends & close family sweep in and down we go the sidewalk

This feeling inside opens the door to humility as history reminds us

Leaves flutter dancing in the wind.

In a timeless waltz before winter begins

When heat and ice fight the battle that cool surely wins

And soon a nip of frost steals into the air

Birds flying through clouds toward southern warmth

A rabbit's fur turns from brown to snowy white

Days grow shorter and longer becomes the length of night

The golden sun gradually loses her warmth for a long winter
