A/N: Hello everyone! I have been wanting to write this and publish this for some time now. I'm so glad to finally publish it for you all to read. Please do leave comments on your thoughts about the first chapter. I want to tailor it to what you guys like and steer away from wang you guys don't like. I've made the speech a mix between formal and modern English. Also, there's a slight hint in the middle about super powers which isn't big in the story as a whole, but is a factor later on. The photo above is the grand staircase leading down to the great hall. Well, I hope you guys enjoy it!

The sounds of music and laughter filled the ballroom as royals from the kingdom of Imperium feasted and celebrated in the honor of the King's birthday. The Queen was sitting on her throne as she watched her husband flirt with yet another princess of the court on the dance floor. She was aware that it was a common practice for some kings and kingdoms to have a queen, but still sleep with other women in court for the purpose of procreation. The Queen, Araceli, wasn't in favor of this practice. She let out a sigh as she grabbed the skirt of her dress and stood up on her feet. Before she walked down the steps, a hand reached out in front of her. Her sky-blue eyes followed the hand laden in armor and saw that it was the kingdom's commander.

"Your Majesty." He greeted her with the bow of his head. She placed her hand in his as he carefully led her down the steps. "Are you enjoying tonight's festivities?" Once the Queen took the final step down, he retreated his hand and rested it on the hilt of his sword and followed her out of the great hall.

"Commander Pearson, you know I don't like parties." The Queen reminded him as they walked down the halls of the castle. "Besides, I can't stand seeing my husband make a fool of himself any longer." The Commander refrained from commenting on the matter. He knew it wasn't his place as a servant of the kingdom to comment on the activities of the royal family.

As they arrived in front of her bed chamber, the two heard loud screams erupt from the great hall. Before the Queen could look down towards the source of the commotion, the commander quickly reacted and ushered her into the room. He locked the double doors and ordered the Queen to stay hidden behind her bed as he drew out his sword.

The screaming ended after many minutes had passed but on the other side of the door, the two could hear a group of people nearing their location. "It's this one." A frightful woman stammered on the other side of the door. Within seconds, the door flew open and the woman screamed as she ran away down the hall. Commander Pearson stood in his fighting stance in front of the bed frame and noted four armed soldiers walk into the Queen's chambers.

"There's only one here." One soldier said, as his hand wielded his sword.

"We can cut off his head like the King." Another chimed in with a laugh.

"Where's the Queen?"

"We know she's in here."

Commander Pearson was about to engage in battle when a man with a crown donned on his head walked through the open doors. The man had a bag in his hand which was filled with something rounded bleeding through the fabric. He looked over to Commander Pearson, "I'm King Thomas of Parva and I've beheaded your king. This kingdom is now under my rule. Hand over the Queen and I promise to do no harm to her." King Thomas gestured for the four soldiers to relax their stance and they obeyed immediately, but Commander Pearson did not waver.

Tom took a long breath as he scanned the room, "Queen Araceli, I'm sure you can hear me." He spoke loudly as he wandered about her room while his fingers examined the trinkets that decorated the surfaces of her room. "I have heard of a few things about you, but you remain a mystery to me." He paused for a moment as he looked about the room for her. "I have heard of your beauty, but your power," He paused once again, "Your power seems to be the biggest mystery of all. I have become aware of your gluttonous King and the fact that this kingdom is prospering all because of you. Now, I would hate to put an end to all of the effort you have done all because you refused to surrender peacefully. Now-"
