"I can see you!" The little voice, that sweet little voice. It was horrible!
Stein averted his gaze up from whatever he was doing. His only company, a shadow, created by his seated body covering his desk lamp.
"I can see you!" The voice giggled, as playfully as a five year old playing peekaboo.
"Then show yourself, child." Stein commanded, already bored of the little game.
"I'm right here, professor." The voice announced. Nobody was around. He turned to face the door, his shadow at his feet.
"Where?" Stein asked.
"The grumpy old man can't see?" The voice said.
Stein saw something moving from the corner of his eye. His shadow was waving at him. It held something. Something sharp that plunged into its own neck. Stein felt his colour drain.
