War within

prologue

She exited the café with a steaming cup of coffee in her hand and headed towards her car. After sitting in the car her mind automatically wandered back to time when everything was completely different, when she was totally different from who she is now, someone she didn't even dreamt she would become.

She smiled remembering all the struggles she's been through and how many times she had thought she would not get out of this alive.

Her wandering mind was suddenly forced to come back to reality with her phone's ringtone. 

She saw the name on here mobile and her face lit up just like her mobile's screen. One of the few people in her life who managed to make her life much better than it already is.

Without delaying further she picked up the incoming call and there came a cheery voice of a woman from the other side, "please tell me you are on your way to the office".

She replied in an amusing voice to the desperate question asked, "Well, walaikumassalam am fine dear, I hope you are too".

She heard her groan and said, "assalamualaikum how are you my dear friend, I hope you are fine because I really need your help. Now please tell me where are you? You are on your way to the office right?" her friend asked again with a hint of sarcasm mixed with desperation.

"Yes I am on my way, but what's wrong Alina?" she asked with a slight frown forming on her forehead.

"No nothing to worry about, it's just that I'll be extremely late and at least one of us should be present during clients meeting" Alina replied to her friend referring both of them. For she was the MD and Alina was director of their company.

"Don't worry I'll reach there on time, everything's ok on your side right?" She asked Alina worriedly.

"Yeah am fine Dahab, it's just that Saif is giving me a really hard time" Alina replied to Dahab mentioning the havoc her baby boy of 1 year had caused.

Dahab relaxed visibly by listening to Alina's complains, it's amazing how they both loved each other but weren't blood relatives but really close friends.

"It's ok you take your time no need to hurry up I'll take care of the meeting" she said smiling.

"Thank you so much I love you" Alina replied.

"Aye no need to thanks", Dahab scolded her and added, "I love you too Allah Hafiz", and hung up her phone and started her car after checking time on her wrist watch, she shook her at the thought that she literally lost ten minutes because of her stupid but lovely friend.

Dahab proceeded towards the office in which she and Alina had put so much effort into. She had built it from dust literally, and now her company stood amongst the most leading fashion brands in country.

She just can't stop thanking Alina for all the help and support she has been through the entire struggle and process. When she was on the verge to almost give up her dream, her vision, her life, and this world.

When she was constantly fighting a war with the world and within herself, Alina stood by her side giving her strength, hope, and courage to face the world all over again.

And now when she looks into her past, she not only sees sorrows, regrets, hurt, pain, but also brave, strong, independent, confident girl ascending the stairs of success.

Sure, she met many people on the way who taught some of the most important life lessons, her own people who ditched her with changing time, and some strangers who became her own with time who stayed with her till the end, till now.

She is grateful for people who left her, for they showed her their real face without hurting her further, and for people who came into her life and taught her to trust in miracles. Because where she is now, who she is now is truly a miracle.
