part one: I hate the way you talk to me.

as the sky cries,

the little girl whines.

as her gift so rare,

reassures that he is there.

Pitter patter.

Crash.

Thud.

Fingers curled around his wrist, giving the boy a tug; a plea to return to the twilight.

"Akinori-kun, wake up."

The girl whimpered, scooting forward against the crinkled bedding.

"Akinori-kun, please."

The child pleaded, pressing her cheek against the blond's shoulder.

"Akinori-kun!"

The girl smiled gleefully as the boy's eyes fluttered, his moans of frustration being drowned out by her giggles.

"(y/n)-chan, this is the fifth time you've woken me up."

The young boy spoke with a yawn, weary narrow optics shifting over to allow his neighbor to enter his visage.

"I know, I'm sorry, but.."

The tiny female stammered, voice rising in volume just as quickly as it dropped into the void, becoming a strain to be able to comprehend for the male.

".. the sky is attacking."

Konoha spoke exasperatingly, chest rising with the closure of their shared sentence with a sigh.

These visits by his neighbor had become rather frequent the last month.

Even the smallest drizzle would drive the girl crazy,

and at an ungodly hour,

she'd come knocking at his bedroom window,

and though each time he says,

"Enough! This is the last time,"

Konoha still opens the window without hesitation.

"Akinori-kun, say it."

"No."

"Hey-! Why?"

The (h/c) female's lips tugged downward into a pout as the blond turned his back to his neighbor, and forced her cheek off his warm shoulder,

but her fingers remained on his wrist.

"I'm tired of saying it."

The male huffed, shoulders curling forward in an attempt to convey the message to the female,

but alas, the girl would only counter his reluctance with her whines.

"(y/n)-chan, stop."

"Akinori!"

"(y/n)-chan, seriously."

"A-ki-nor-i!"

"(y/n)-chan, stop being a baby."

"Akin-!"

The girl's breath hitched at the sudden shift on the bed,

and within the timespan of a flinch,

his face stared back at her own.

"We'll do an exchange."

The blond spoke harshly, corners of his lips tugged into a deep frown,

but no matter how irritated the neighbor would make the boy,

she'd always respond with a smile.

"Mhm?"

"I'll say it, and in return, you'll fall asleep."

"Mmm... deal!"

Konoha's eyes flickered at her thoughtless response, words of seemingly no importance catching him off-guard,

even though this is repetitive,

his heart doesn't want to get used to it.

With an uncomfortable shift of narrow oculars and a grip of the crinkled bedsheets, Akinori leaned forward next to the girl's ear,

and with a flustered stutter of hurt pride,

brought the hourly comfort:

"Everything will be okay,

because you're my princess,

and I'm the knight who will slay,

all of your distress,

until it's gone away."

Before he could retreat back to his side of the bed, the neighbor enveloped the boy in a tight embrace,

and even with his whispered shouts for his release,

kept him caged in her arms,

because though he'd never say it,

she knew he doesn't mind her shenanigans.

"You're so cute, Akinori!"

"Shut up, (y/n)-chan!"

the princess stays awake,

as a sight so divine,

and she'll only calm the pains,

when her knight's love finally shines.
