Chapter 6: Asked Out

I get to Science the next day, I sit next to Marley. Marley turns to me.

"So..." She begins talking. "I saw you running through the school yesterday after Glee Club. What happened?"

A tear falls from my eye, but I immediately wipe it away. I tell her exactly what happened and she gives me a big hug. 

Then, the teacher walks in.

I walk into Glee Club later that day and sit in my regular spot. I see Ryder look back at me. As soon as he sees me look at him, he looks away. I see that the seat next to him is empty so I run down and sit next to him.

"Hey," I say. "I'm sorry for running off. I was just scared... I've never kissed anyone before."

He chuckles. "Why didn't you just tell me that?"

"I didn't want you to think I was weird and I didn't want you to hate me." I explain.

"Beth," he looks me in the eyes. "I could never hate you and just because you haven't kissed anyone, that doesn't make you weird."

I smile at him and he hugs me. Then, Mr. Shue walks in and Ryder runs up to him before he can start today's lesson. Ryder whispers in his ear and Mr. Shue nods. 

"Before we start today's lesson, Ryder wants to sing something." Mr. Shue explains, giving Ryder the floor.

Ryder stands in front of the class. "This song is for Beth."

My cheeks go bright red and I smile. Ryder waves Jake over to sing with him and Jake runs to the front and stands next to him. The band starts playing the music.

Jake:

Ryder then walks over to me and takes my hand. I stand up, looking at him with a confused look on my face. 

He smiles, then asks, "Beth, will you go out with me?"

I smile and nod. "Yes. I would love to go out with you, Ryder." I jumped up and put my arms around him.

The whole room erupts in claps and I here a few people say 'aw.' I let go of Ryder and we sit down. Our fingers intertwine and I look down at our hands, smiling. 

I can't believe he did that for me. He's so sweet.
