11th String - I Could Probably Do Better

Start from the beginning

We talked about various things while we ate. I finished before him, as always, so I was the one talking a lot. I told him about my week and it felt nice. It truly felt that we were back to what we were before. A pair of best friends who hang out together just to talk about everything and nothing. Just to laugh at every little thing and make fun of each other.

Yes, I still like Clark and I want to be more than friends with him but this moment right now makes me realise that it doesn't even matter. As long as I'm this close and comfortable with him, I'll get by.

I don't need Clark as boyfriend if I have him as my best friend.

Only if I could convince myself more.

"Jade, would you please be quiet? People might notice," Clark whispered, ducking his head more and leaning against me.

I can feel his body heat because of our proximity but didn't mind it.

"I'm sorry!" I apologised, not seeming sorry at all. "It's just that I still can't believe that I'm going to watch the sequel of Captain America where they meet the Winter Soldier who is so bloody obvious I wonder why they even bother hiding his face. More like the Winter Spoiler," I scoffed.

"Jade," Clark groaned.

I raised my hands in defense, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"

"If you could just lower your voice."

"I'll be quiet now, I promise."

He nodded, "Okay, you buy the popcorn then," he said, handing me a few pounds.

I furrowed my eyebrows at him, "Why? You're already here."

"People might recognise me."

"Oh. Right," I said, smiling sheepishly.

It was almost our turn in the concession stand line and I still couldn't stop bouncing. There was an advance screening for Captain America 2 and all the tickets were only sold online and had higher prices. Clark already had ours so we only lined up to buy food.

I had completely forgotten about the deal I made with Clark ages ago. I agreed to go with him to some snobby, famous-people party because he promised me this. Guess you could say I was giddy.

I was an extreme fangirl and no one could blame me.

I asked the lady behind the counter for the largest box of popcorn and two bottles of water with Clark standing beside me, hiding his face.

I paid and while I was waiting for our food, someone called me from behind.

I turned around, finding the source and regretted it at once. It was the guy from school who forced me to agree to going out with him.

"Crap," I hissed, turning around again as if I didn't hear the annoying guy. I still can't remember his name.

"What's wrong?" Clark questioned, leaning closer to me. I shook my head and told him it was nothing.

Clark took the popcorn and just as I got the the bottles of water, a hand touched my shoulder. I froze.

Crap crap crap.

"Hey Jade!"

I groaned and turned around to see what's-his-face. I really don't remember his name and I'm not ashamed for that.

"What do you want?"

He chuckled, "Hello to you too. I'm glad I saw you here. How serendipitous!"

I stared at him like he was crazy, which he was, "What the hell?"

"This is not just a coincidence and you know it. We have met here before and by fate's strings, we meet here again," he said dramatically and I wanted to punch him.
