[7th String]

-Black and Black-

Clark groaned beside me, "What are you doing here?" he asked the guy before us in a displeased tone. So they knew each other.

The guy in question shook his head and tsked, "Is that how you greet your manager Clark?"

"Manager?" I voiced out loud.

The man stepped forward and offered his hand with a bright smile, "Jesse Reed. Pleasure."

I took his hand and shook it with one eyebrow raised. He was handsome, no doubt about that. That's all I needed to notice to know that he's probably a player. The way he smiles says it all.

"Jade Hart." I introduced myself as well before disconnecting our hands.

His eyes lit up in pleasant surprise, "So you're the Jade Hart." he smiled knowingly at me before giving Clark the same look, "You never mentioned your bestfriend was cute."

Instead of focusing on his comment about me being cute (which was true), I dwelled on his previous statement. Clark had told his manager I was his bestfriend? I never actually thought that Clark would mention me to anyone. Let alone refer to me as his bestfriend.

Clark rolled his eyes, "Do you need something?" he asked, almost seething.

Jesse frowned at him, "You could be more welcoming you know. Seeing as how I traveled all the way here just for my pet." he gave Clark a pat on his head, as if he really was his pet. Clark swatted his hand away immediately, glaring.

"I didn't ask you to." he snarled.

"Ooh." Jesse shook his head once more, "Your temper my dear celebrity." he said, clearly unfased by Clark’s death glare. He noticed me watching their exchange and winked at me.

The next thing I knew, I was being dragged away by Clark. My precious doughnut forgotten.

"I knew I shouldn't have mentioned him." Clark muttered desperately, "Now look what happened. The devil's spawn in the flesh. I'm telling you Jade, he can sense it if he's being talked about and he gets the strong need of showing. That’s so like him." he rambled off.

I laughed quietly as Clark continued to mumble curses at Jesse. I've never seen him so whiny. It's too funny.

"Please stop laughing at my distress." Clark pled as he drove us out of the parking lot.

I pressed my lips together in a tight smile to rid myself of amusement, "Distress? Then he's officially one of the sources of my happiness." I said proudly, leaning back into the plush passenger seat.

"Then have him be your bestfriend." he huffed.

I raised an eyebrow at his unusual behaviour, "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were jealous." I commented off-handedly.

"Whatever."

His response irked me. He didn’t say he was jealous, but he also didn't deny it. Which would mean that he is in fact jealous of his manager. I find it weird though. What did I say anyway?

"And to think I expected a perfect day." he muttered under his breath.

"Well, it would be if you give me those sweets." I interjected.

He stared back at me momentarily and blinked, not expecting my answer, "Right." he smiled, focusing on the road again.

We drove around for a bit, waiting until found a place worth going to.
