15. Tensed Manik

Everyone was startled by Aryaman's shout and looks at him and then the direction at which he was looking. But there was one guy who reached the 'direction' before anyone could realize. The guy being Manik saw that Nandu was busy on her phone and had slipped while coming down the stairs. Before she could fall down Manik, who rushed to her in two strides, caught her on time. 

[Note: Yeah, I am a normal person. People who expected it to be something science related, sorry for that. I thought you didn't want me to add anything of that sort. 🤔🤔]

While everyone sighed in relief and were about to go to them, but Cabir stopped them while grabbing a popcorn.

Cabir: Guys relax. She hasn't fallen down. Have some popcorn.

Arya(a bit irritated): How can you relax. She might have gotten a serious injury.

Cabir: lagi nahi hai na. Just enjoy the show (and pulls him down while giving him a bowl of popcorn)

Meanwhile, Manik makes her stand properly and checks her, for any possible injury. Having satisfied himself, he started shouting on Nandu.

Manik: Kahan dhyaan tha tera? You can't even walk properly. Why do you need a phone on stairs? You can't keep yourself away from trouble. I should keep an eye on you every time.

Nandu who was listening to him with her head hung low, looked up to find a smirking Cabir having a popcorn and teasing her.

Nandu: Manik, Cabir mujhe chida raha hai.

Manik: Shut up. What am I talking and tum kya bol rahi ho? Agar lag jaati tho? What if I couldn't make it on time? Gir jaati na tum? You could have gotten some serious injury, right?

Nandu: I know you won't ever let me fall.

Manik couldn't say any further and hugs her muttering 'I won't, ever' in her ears.

Cabir: (putting the popcorn bowl back on the table) le drama khatam.

Arya: (confused) What do you mean?

Cabir: Aryaman this is a rare event when Manik shouts on Nandini. He won't ever do that even if she does anything wrong. So, we have to enjoy such 'once in a blue moon' events.

Nandu who just came along with Manik gives a slap on Cabir's head.

Nandu: Pata tha mujhe. If I will get injured, tu hospital mein nurse ko line maarega na?

Navya: Cabirrr.

Cabir: arey ruk tu. Aise hi breakup karwayegi kya mera. Navya maine kabhi tumhare alawa kisi ko dekha hai kya?

Mukti: I think yes.

Cabir: Arey ruko yaar. Marwaoge mujhe. I need to call someone.

With that, he escapes from there and everyone bursts out laughing.

Arya: Nandu you are fine na?

Mukti: Aryaman, if she isn't fine, we won't be sitting here.

Navya: haan yeh janab pura ghar kho sar par chada lete ab tak.

Manik gets a message seeing which the color on his face drains out which was noticed by Nandu but he signaled her, 'later'.

Cabir comes back after which they all watch some movies and decide to sleep as they have to go to college the next morning.

After everyone retires to their respective rooms, Nandu sneaks into Manik's room and finds him in the balcony on a call so, she comfortably settles down on the bed and plays with her mobile. Manik who finished his call has a frown on his face, but it was replaced by a smile after seeing Nandu all engrossed in her mobile. He comes to her and sits beside her.

Manik: Oh hello Madam. Aapka ek room hain. Aadhi raat ko ek jawaan ladke ke kamre mein aane ke liye sharam nahi aati aapko?

Nandu: Joke tha?

Manik: Tha tho?

Nandu: I don't like jokes.

Manik: I don't like you.

And they burst out laughing.

Manik: Acha go to your room and sleep. We have college tomorrow right. Neend nahi aa rahi kya? Mumma papa ki yaad aa rahi hai?

Nandini: Rajdhani Malhotra express, halt tho de do. I am fine. I am here for you.

Manik: for me?

Nandini: Stop acting Manik. What are those frowns, that you are hiding?

Manik: Nandu, vo there is some unpleasant news. And I was just...

Nandu:(cutting him and dramatically putting her hands on her mouth) Are you pregnant? Uske ke alawa koi bhi news chalega. Kyunki Tum pregnant ho jaoge, tho tumhare bacho ki main kya lagungi?

Manik: (widening his eyes and slapping her lightly) Pagal ho gayi ho kya? Kuch bhi bole ja rahi ho. Listen to me na, it's really unpleasant.

Nandu: acha batao. What happened.

Manik: Dad called me in the evening. He said they are coming back tomorrow along with Mumma papa.

Nandu: oh that's so great. What's so unpleasant about this?

Manik: because they are bringing Soha along with them. Apparently, the meeting which they have attended was also attended by her and her dad. And they came to know that Soha will be studying in our college. So, she tagged herself along with Mom Dad. She is coming tomorrow and I don't know what to do. She will be staying at my house and then...

Nandu hugs Manik to calm him down.

Nandu: Calm down. Why are you so worried, When Nandini Murthy is here? Main hun na. Main dekh lungi na use. Don't you trust me? Remember what happened last year. Anyways, Aryaman will share a room with you, right? So, you are half safe. Rest you leave it to me. Ok?

Manik just nods his head.

Nandu: Traffic constable samajh rakha hai kya? Mundi hila rahe ho?

Manik: Nanduuu please na.

and hugs her with a smile. Nandu breaks the hug and tucks him into the bed.

Manik: tum bhi jao and sleep.

Nandu: pakka na? You won't think about anything else, right? Sleep peacefully. Good night.

Manik: Good night.

Manik pov

She makes everything simple and life seems so peaceful when she is around.

With a stupid grin playing on his face Manik decides to sleep to prepare himself for the upcoming storm.

Nandu after Leaving Manik's room goes towards her room but bumps into Abhimanyu, on the way, who came outside for water.

Abhi: Nandu, tu is time Manik ke room mein kya kar rahi hai? Are you fine? Is Manik fine?

Nandu(to herself): Aaj sab itne questions kyun puch rahe hai

Abhi: Nandu bol na?

Nandu: I am fine Abhi. You just take rest. You need to have lots of energy for tomorrow.

Abhi: What? Par kyun?

Nandu doesn't answer him instead gives him a 'long' sympathetic look to Abhimanyu and leaves from there. Abhimanyu too mutters a 'weird girl' and leaves for his room.
