I’ve always hated late night classes where they ended around six in the evening. There were far more important things I felt I needed to attend to than never ending lectures - like marathons of an anime I hadn’t yet finished. It wasn’t like I didn’t find schooling important, it was, but there were just times where I began to feel fed up.
Heading out of the college and towards the dormitories, as they were neighboring near each other, I spared a glance at the few police cars pulling into the campus, lights blaring and alert in the summer darkness. I winced at the brightness as both confusion and curiosity flooded through me.
In a fit of wanting to know more, I followed where the cars were headed, my body pressed against the brick walls of the building I had just exited out of, until the cars came to a halt at what definitely looked like a gang party. The bright shades of pink, purple, green, and other visually appealing colors of smoke were seen from the corner I was hiding. I thought the issue must have had something to do with the party, but to my surprise, they took the opposite direction of said event, as if it didn’t exist.
My eyebrows furrowed, even more bewildered. If it wasn’t over that then what? I decided to move closer, despite that parties weren’t ever my thing. Social gatherings in general just frightened me, but that thought didn’t stop me.
Right in the moment of the gathering, I took note of just how many people were there - obviously over seventy - the blaring music coming from the huge speakers that not even I could afford, and so many more overwhelming aspects that proved just how wealthy the people throwing this gang party seemed.
As I walked further into the crowd of people, a few others around me say things like, “Who’s he?” “He’s hot, what the hell.” “Woah, is that hottie taken?” In response I just lifted my hood up over my dark brunette locks and looked forward blankly, not thinking twice of their comments, despite how many were compliments of my appearance.
“Looks like Kookie has got some competition.” A guy I had passed said to a few others near him.
“Shut up, Jimin.” One sneered in his direction, which in response made Jimin smirk.
The next moment the unexpected happened; one of the guys had made their way up to me, drink in hand, his intentions seeming not all too good, but I couldn’t be sure from his bunny like appearance.
“Just who do you think are, walking in here suddenly when you clearly weren’t invited?” He had asked, looking me in the eyes, clearly not intrigued of my presence like the other attendees here were.
His annoyed tone didn’t intimidate me one bit, as I replied, “Let’s just say I got curious. You can’t expect to throw a bash with wild colors and loud ass music and not expect one to not check it out. Come on, have a bit more sense.” I threw back, attempting to push past him, but he took ahold of my arm as if he didn’t want me to disappear.
My glance fell upon his eyes once more - cold and dark, seemingly lifeless - giving him a look of my own annoyance. “Can I help you, or are you just going to hold onto my arm all night?”
He then smirked, which took me aback for a moment. This guy seems bipolar as hell. I thought. “Actually, you can help me. Come with me.” He said, releasing his hold from my arm, clearly not giving me the option whether or not to comply. As much as I didn’t want to, I followed him anyway.
Through more crowds of people that we moved passed - which seemed never ending - he suddenly came to a halt, standing in front of five other guys, who I assumed were his friends.
“Oh, Jungkook you’re back. Who’s that?” One of them asked, looking over at me subtly before turning their attention back on the guy next to me, who I now knew was addressed as Jungkook.
“Oh, this is-” Jungkook nudged me slightly, to which I finished his sentence off for him.
“I’m Kim Taehyung, but just call me Taehyung. Actually, don’t bother calling me anything cause I’m pretty sure this is the only time I’ll be associating with any of you.” I remarked sassily, leaving their faces in surprise at how I came off the way I did.
“Wow, you picked up a fiesty one, Kookie. Thought those weren’t your type.” One of them said, his dimples prominent as he spoke.
“First of all, Joon, I don’t have a type. I just let them all come and go. Second of all, he’s not a pick up, and I don’t think he ever will be-”
I stepped on his foot at his last remark, which resulted in Jungkook letting out a noise of pain. “Asshole.” I muttered.
Jungkook had just continued on, not paying any mind my last comment. “I want him to be a part of our gang.” He finished, as I stood there staring at him in shock. Me with them?
I looked at the other five in front of us and they looked just as shocked as I felt. Eyebrows furrowed, and with their jaws ajar, searching for words to say.
The dimpled one decided to speak up for everyone else after a moment, “Jungkook, you just met the guy. Plus he doesn’t seem that interested in us, especially you. We can’t just let him in. As a co leader of this group, you need to make decisions that will benefit all of us. I feel the one you’re making now will just be a mistake later on-”
“As if all these gang parties, hook ups, vandalism, and other shit benefits us in the first place. What do you call those, Namjoon? Are they not mistakes? God, I swear the way our group runs still never exceeds to make me feel confused, and not to mention angered.”
While Jungkook argued with Namjoon, I just stood there thinking to myself how he said letting me into the group would be a mistake. I’m a mistake. Damn, I’ve heard that before.
It didn’t take more than another minute of Jungkook’s bickering against Namjoon to make said dimpled guy burst. “You know what, fine! He can stay in our group, but you're going to be the one to help him out if anything happens, not me. You got that?”
Jungkook just smirked in silent accomplishment to himself, before taking ahold of my hand. “I got that.” He replied.
I'm fucked. Was all I thought to myself as I stared down at our intertwined hands.
