A Whole New World
The rain had finally stopped,
And I wanted out of the house,
All the fighting,
And yelling,
So I slipped out the front,
And went for a walk down by the river,
It was calm,
Peaceful,
Lovely,
I heard the frogs croak,
The birds chirp,
And the sun heated my skin,
I walked,
And then I saw it,
Shimmering,
In the distance,
I wasn't sure what it was,
So I walked,
And when I got closer,
I thought that I was seeing a mirage,
But that wasn't it,
Not it at all,
I walked closer,
And reached out,
My hand went into the fold,
And the instant chill made me jump,
I wanted to know more,
But at the same time,
I was afraid,
But I reached in again,
This time,
The chill wasn't quite so intense,
I eased in,
Not sure what would come next,
I felt it suck me in,
And I landed,
The world that had been replaced wasn't my own,
Instead,
What lay before me could only be described as a hell on earth,
But I felt something pulling me forward,
I couldn't explain it,
But I knew,
I had no choice but to follow,
