Unexpected turn of events (the script, Glen Power fanfiction)

Chapter one

She'd been handed the job after her then mentor and head curator had talked about retiring. Kate had been ready to pick up after him, having been his right hand since she'd started working there almost five years ago. Having a young son and being a single parent hadn't enabled her to travel much, like she'd wanted at first. but then again, life had a way of working out when you waited. because of that she'd been the one her mentor had trained the most and she'd been the obvious choice. She'd had that job for under little off a year and with that had come another raise.

George and Arthur were best friends as well, she was happy for being able to keep that under wraps though. She didn't want her close connection with the future King William and King George to be known. they were just George who had plenty of sleepovers and Will who she was now used to having dinner with.

She loved them honestly she'd already put down the godparent position of Princess Charlotte. But Kate wanted her to be the godparent of the little one she was expecting now and she couldn't turn it down again.

She couldn't turn her friend down again and had agreed to be a godparent of the next baby. It seemed her cover with them however was over seeing as she was going to be a godparents and was going to be a guest to the next Royal Wedding. She'd gotten pretty close with Harry through Kate, it wasn't unusual to have dinner and Harry came over plenty of times.

Looking back she wasn't sure how it had all happened that she got so close to the three of them. Some people you just met and it felt like you knew them all their life.

"Go on but be careful of the thing they are working on. Don't make me come over there to find out you broke something." She warned him and he nodded his head eagerly. he knew the rules by now, if he broke one thing it was bye bye to visiting the labs and storage rooms.

Her team had just gotten their hands on a fossil they were studying. she'd hate for her son to break something so valuable. So far he had yet to break anything, he knew the rules and her team knew him well enough.

settling in her office, she ran her hands over her face, she couldn't shake the feeling she'd gotten at the store. It was probably nothing, but still, she didn't want it to become something either.

'You coming over for dinner tomorrow tonight?' Pinged her phone with a message of Kate. Her son had his first play in school tomorrow evening and Kate had invited her to go over for dinner before heading to school together. She quickly replied that she and Mia would be there before starting to work a little.

It was an hour later that her son entered her office. "Mummy can George come and see the new dinosaurs you're friends are working on, it's so cool." He said as he walked up to her and she pulled him on her lap, her chair pushed back a little.

"Sure, I'll ask aunty Kate when she and George can come over." she told him as she ran her hand through his hair, before kissing the side of his head.

"Why don't you draw something I'm nearly finished here and then we can go home." She told him nodding to his 'desk' in her office with pen and crayons.

"I have a feeling someone has been following me." Kate admitted to Mia and Kate as they sat around the dinner table about to leave to go and see the play.

"How so?" Catherine immediately asked sitting up straight. Kate had gotten a special place in her heart the moment the two had met each other. Both of them were four months pregnant at the time just after New Years. They had bonded over that when Kate had gone to get a private tour ahead of a visit.

She'd seen the weariness in the young girl's eyes she was only 7 years younger than her but seemed to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. Seeing the struggle she'd slowly broached the subject, somehow Catherine had gotten through her walls and Kate had confessed everything.
