RECAP

Throughout the movie we heard yelling, things being thrown, and crying which I'm guessing was from my brother. Luke came and sat next to me on the couch. He put his arm around my shoulders and I leaned into him. We have to stick together to get through this. I hope he doesn't leave anytime soon. I know it sounds kind of selfish, but I'm dreading the day he has to leave for college.

I put my arms around him and slowly drifted off to sleep to the very calming sounds of my friends screams of terror as they were engulfed in the horror movie.

We all woke up the next morning in time for school meaning we all had like two hours of sleep. Nine tired teenagers bustling around at six in the morning is not a fun experience. I was borrowing a shirt and shorts from Catherine and Luke was borrowing some of Will's clothes. I was in the bathroom with Brian in the shower and Justin, Luke, Emily, and I were all trying to brush our teeth at the same time.

"Ew Justin, you just spit on my toothbrush!" Emily said inspecting the toothbrush. He gave her a big smile with his teeth covered in toothpaste and went back to brushing.

"Leaving in five!" Will yelled from the living room. I quickly finished in the bathroom and ran upstairs to get my shoes and hopped around trying to get them on faster. I ran back downstairs to see Will and Marcus picking up their keys.

"Okay I can take five and Marcus can take two." Will said. He had a car and Marcus had a truck.

"Split how you want I don't care. Let's just go."

I followed Catherine, Emily, Justin, and Brian to Will's car, leaving Jess and Luke to go with Marcus.

"Beat you there!" Will yelled running out of the house and to his car.

"Bye mom!" Catherine yelled before following her brother outside. Luke pushed past me and jumped into Marcus' truck.

"Com on!" He yelled. Poor Marcus and Jess ran out of the house barefoot. I ran to the car and jumped in the back. Will started pulling out of the driveway before I even closed the door. Once we got into the road we sped off towards school leaving the other three in the dust.

We were driving along through downtown, when the road split into two lanes. All of a sudden a rickety old white truck sped past us with my brother hanging out the window, pointing and laughing at us.

Will grunted and sped up. We got stuck at a red light and they sped away happily. I frowned and crossed my arms.

"That's no fair." I grumbled and looked out the window as we started driving again.

When we finally made it to school we parked next to the others.

"What took you guys so long?" Marcus asked leaning against his truck.

"Ha ha very funny." Will said rolling his eyes. We all walked into school together and split up to go to separate classes. My first classes were long and boring as usual, but I was excited when lunch came. I'm so happy that it's 10th and 12th graders together. It's very convenient. I claimed our usual table since I was the first of the group to make it to lunch. I put my backpack down and sat at my seat a little left of the middle of the table. With my head in my hands and my eyes closed, I thought about things that I've been trying to avoid all day, like going back home, what my father will say and do, but mostly I was worried about my mother.

My mom is an, interesting person I guess you could say. She's very quiet and is usually in her and my fathers bedroom. She only occasionally comes out, and when she does she gives me a broken smile before returning upstairs soon after. She wasn't always like this though. She used to be a happy and loving mother. We used to go out to eat and play mini-golf, we used to have fun. I'm not sure exactly what happened, and I'm not sure I ever will know, but something just changed one day and she's never been the same. I missed my mom and I was worried about her being home alone with him for so long.
