Scene three

Modesty is lying at the bottom of the bridge. Cars continue passing by but no one stops. She gets up and sits along the edge of the water

Modesty (voice over)

so you jumped

Modesty

what happened after that?

Modesty (voice over)

we don't remember much

Modesty

oh yeah

Modesty (voice over)

later that night you called Addyson so I think we just got knocked out

Modesty

this is why I don't drink

Modesty (voice over)

you were drinking?

Modesty

heavily

*Modesty gets up and begins walking down the streets of the town*

Modestly (voice over)

so how do you remember so much?

Modesty

you I guess

Modesty (voice over)

so he went on a trip and you jumped

Modesty

in that order?

Modesty (voice over)

sort of, there was a bit in between

Modesty

what was in between?

Modesty (voice over)

we don't talk about that

Modesty

why?

Modesty (voice over)

because

Modesty

of?

Modesty (voice over)

it made you try to kill yourself, it's best we don't remember

Modesty

I wouldn't have done that if I was dying already

Modesty (voice over)

well we talked to his mom

Modesty

so?

*modesty approaches a door, walking up the steps she pauses*

Modesty (voice over)

so she's not a very nice lady

Modesty

no she is not

Modesty (voice over)

what did she say?

*Addyson's mother appears at the door*

Modesty

she simply explained to me how I am crazy. She said I made a relationship that was never there and she wished I had left her son out of it. She said she wasn't worried anymore because the papers would be signed soon. I didn't know what she meant by papers but I let it be. She clearly missed her son, he had been gone for nearly a month now. I was sure he had only said a few weeks. She told me I had to stop leaving the mental home. Then she paused and said she wasn't sure why they had ever let me leave. I got worried about her, she was clearly not doing so good without her son. She even started talking crazy about how he had never left.
