Have you ever wondered why do you have nightmares during the night? Well, allow me to tell you a story; I hope you'll come to understand.
Thousands of years ago, mankind was born and together with it, all that surrounds us. All that we know, and hold dear was born from the will of the great one: Arceus. Everything was made from the light to live in the light, and irradiate light. All but one thing. One thing formed in the dark, and from that darkness...
I was born.
I've wandered the Earth since it's very first days, watching mankind from the shadows. I watched as they came to call our kind "Pokémon" and how they used us for their own selfish needs. I hated them for it. We were not tools. Like them, we had life, emotions, thoughts. And so, contemplating the true face of humanity...
I grew.
I finally settled down on a lonely hill, under a lonely tree. The land before me was untouched and beautiful. I loved to stare into the horizon and admire such a natural beauty. That is, as years went by, until men discovered such place. They began building and destroying what beauty the land had to offer. I silently watched at what once had been a vast and green valley turn into a grey and large kingdom. Word of my existence got to those living there, and due to my dark appearance they feared me. One day, a young girl made her way towards my hill and fearlessly approached me. Her name was Maria, she was the people's princess. She would often visit me, somehow she cared for me...
She became my friend.
She took me in, and I lived in her castle. She showed me the good side of humanity. Guess they were not so bad. I still hated them, mind you. But she was the exception. She was the only one I trusted in that grey palace. She was the only one who ever greeted me with a smile. I saw her grow, I saw her become queen, and I saw her children. I saw her become old, and I saw her fade away. She was buried in the hill she met me as was written in her last will. I was blamed for her death and, as a result, I was exiled. I suppressed my anger against the humans, and only wished I'd shown her a smile while she was alive; which I never did. I returned to that lonely hill with that lonely tree. As I looked at her grave I finally smiled, and I could feel her...
Smiling back at me.
Years went by, and what once had been a kingdom turned into a city. Technology had increased. Now humans drove cars, soared in planes, and what not. Pokémon and mankind had somehow managed to coexist. Humans began calling themselves trainers and taking teams of six Pokémon into battle. I watched from the shadows as how our kind was forced to face each other for senseless reasons. It had become a daily routine, and by the end of each day I'd always return to my peaceful place. Unbeknownst to me, far away from where I resided, an egg began to hatch...
And she was born.
She was a wild one, curious and daring. Whatever her trainer said, she would always refuse to stay in her Poké Ball. Her nature made her the party leader, and the trainer's partner. Her team loved her, and so did every human who laid eyes on her. She irradiated joy wherever she went, and because of that she became well known. Many called her the "Joyful Ralts". She lived surrounded by smiles, love, people and Pokémon who cared for her. She called them...
Friends.
Unlike her, I lived alone. Still watching how the filth of men polluted the land before me. No one dared go up that hill for thousands of years, even other Pokémon kept their distance. I lived concealed and in hiding. Silently, I watched the ever growing city. It angered me that I couldn't do anything against the filth of men. I tried once, but failed. My powers had no effect on them, it annoyed me. So I lived alone on that lonely hill, under that lonely tree, watching, and occasionally smiling at that lonely grave of the only person who ever cared for me...
