A Bite out of the Sun

I took a bite out of the sun.
Just a taste, for fun.
And it glistened and melted and lit up my world,
And I swallowed and felt it as it settled and swirled,
And from within, I felt it begin,
The changes, the settlement, the transformation.
And the sun was living within me inside,
So fierce and powerful, unable to hide.
A gift from the gods, a force so bright,
I wondered the odds with all of my might.
At first it burned and it stung, and I wanted to give,
But I turned and I sung to the heavens, that I wanted to live.
So here I stand, refreshed and anew
Because I swallowed the sun, and from it I grew.
