Tobias Young listens to classical music. I would not of pictued it at all, but his head sways with the keys of the piano while he drives or you can see his fingers slightly move imitating the sounds.
"My dad was a piano player." He says quietly not wanting to disturb the beautiful ballad.
I was actually suprised. "Really?"
He looked at me with the same smile that got me in this car. "Yeah really. When I was younger I used to sneck into his music room and play for hours. He would always catch me but would sit me on his lap and teach me to play." He stopped at a red light and closed his eyes. "It's beautiful when you really listen to it."
"I think it's beautiful without having to really listen." I respond appreciating everything he has to say. "Where is you're dad?" I asked.
"He passed away when I was fifteen. Cancer." He looked back to the road as the light turned green.
My heart sunk. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ask or upset you."
"It's okay. It's good talking about him. I can't with Josie because she might relapse and I can't with my mum because she can hardly believe it herself." I think back to when I was fifteen and the things I went through how those things changed me.
"You go to school?" I ask trying to change subject because I feel bad for talking about his dad.
"No, I dropped out to look after my sister," he smiles. "Best choice I made really. what about you?"
"Well, like I said I haven't been in two years," I laughed. "Stupid I know, but I just couldn't go anymore. I don't know why." I lied. I did know why. On my last day there were police officers asking me questions about wether I felt safe there or not. And I didn't, I hardly felt safe at home. After my attempt. I could hear my mum crying and my dad asking why, fact is they didnt know why at this point. When I woke up was the last time I saw my dad, he seemed disgusted in me. Mum and him had already divorced and he was with another family leaving us without home and into the arms of danger which put me in this position.
"So, are you going back at any point?" he asked.
"No, I do online study."
After a few mintues of playful banter between eachother, we pulled up to a driveway with a grand house that reminded me of a smaller version of the white house. We jerked to a halt in his driveway. Wow I thought to myself. I followed him inside where there were marbel stairs right in the middle of the foyer. All on the walls were quotes about happy families and peaceful homes engraved in stone. Their furniture was antique and I felt it was to exspensive for me to sit on. Tobias saw me reading all the quotes. "My mother likes to keep positive vibes for my sister," he laughed. "They are everywhere."
His mum is in the kitchen making a roast, she didn't seem at all surprised to my being there. I mean, the type of guy he is I'm imaging how many girls swoon over his delightful charm.
"Mum, this is Ruby Red," he introduced me.
"Just call me Ruby, please," I shake her soft small hand. "It's really nice to meet you."
"I'm Samara, but please call me Sam. How are you, Ruby?" She asked very formally.
"I am great, thank you." I say back. Tobias mum was beautiful, I could see where Josie got her blonde hair from.
"How was you're sister today? I'm going to call her later tonight."
"She was good, her group sessions are fantastic," Tobias sounded really sarcastic.
"Really? well maybe you should go?" she raised her eyebrow. There was a weird silance where I just stood there looking around the room. "You are joining us for dinner?" Sam smiled at me.
