"We are all here for you Josie, and so very proud of how far you have come. I pray for you." Daniel nods his head as Josie sits down. She looks like she really appreciates it. It came to his turn, he smiled. His voice was sexy and husky like a romantic pub singer (if that's possible).
"My names Tobias Young," He said. "I am eighteen years old and you have obviously met my twin. I am here at the request of her."
"And how do you feel today, Tobias?" Daniel ask.
"Oh amazing, not even the devil himself could ruin this day." Daniel looked a little offended when Tobias mentioned the devil. He sat down and gave his sister a wide smile. Lola was next, she was fourteen and suffered social anxiety. Then it was Patrick, who is openly gay but also suffers at the hands of his father for being gay. When it was my turn I did my usual spill, my age, my name, I'm here because of my mother and so on. The session proceeded as normal, people talked about their battles and others declared war.
"Tobias, perhaps you would like to share what it's like being a support system for you're sister?" Daniel asked, "If that's okay with you Josie?"
Josie agreed that it was okay and once again Tobias stood up. "Being a support for my sister is great, if it means I get to see her through health then I would drop everything and anything to help her."
Josie smiled wide and water weld in her eyes, she whispered thank you and he sat back down.
"Ruby, what about you? who is you're support?" Daniel never asked me questions nor have I have voluntarily spoken.
I stood not wanting to make myself look like an idiot. "Well, I have myself. I haven't been to school in two years so I haven't had the chance to made bonds with anyone and I haven't attempted to. The only real person you can count on is yourself. and even then you're mind is so full of surprises that even it can turn on you." Daniel looks horrified, I don't know wether it was because I haven't said anything about my feelings till now or because that's the first thing I come up with. I look at Tobias and he smiles at me, not in a sympathetic way like his sister is but in a friendly way. Neither of us said anything else throughout the rest of the session. By the end of the session we pray all together for the people who lost their battle and I wonder what it would be like to be them, to be forgotten and only a prayer because people think they have a right to guess what they went through. After it was done Tobias quickly got off his seat and walked towards me. He towered over me, it also didn't help that I was quite small in size.
"What's you're name?" He asked me smiling with his perfectly straight teeth.
"Ruby."
"Okay," he stood there for a bit. "You're full name?"
"My what?" I asked confused. Although it's a pretty straight forward question, I just didn't understand why he was asking it.
"I can't know someone if I don't know their full name, a full name specks a lot about a person."
"I disagree, a name doesn't define a person," But I bite. "My name is Ruby Red. Don't ask, our last name is red which is fitting because it's my mums favourite colour which means her favourite jewel is a ruby so hence my name Ruby Rose Red." He went to say something but Josie walked over.
"Hold that thought." He turned to his sister. "You were right, that sucked."
"I told you you wouldn't like it." she laughed.
He leans down to his sister and whispers thinking I wont hear him. "Does she come here every Thursday?" I couldn't hear his sisters comment but he produced a large grin. Tobias moves out of the way so Josie can fully introduce herself, she gives me a hand shake and I feel like I'm going to break her bony brittle fingers.
"Alrighty, I have to go. Dr Hay is going to be waiting for me," She starts to walk off. "I'll see you tomorrow Tobias and it was really nice meeting you Ruby."
"It was lovely meeting you too." I smile and wave as she walks away.
"What exactly is this place?" He asks.
"An old building next to a hospital?" I say in a condescending voice, he just smiles and I shake my head and laugh. "I'm sorry, I just haven't talked to an actual person other then my mother and doctor for months." He was stared at me smiling, it was creepy it actually made me feel really good. "What?" I ask "What are you staring at?"
"You are really beautiful," there was a short silence, he shock his head almost like he was embarrassed. "Sorry, I can be pretty straight forward. But I tell the truth."
I sough and roll my eyes, "Please. I'm not beauti-"
"You are like Hermione in Harry Potter. Pretty much the only attractive girl in the series and very sure of herself." He smiled more and more, I smiled as well but describing me as sure of myself if probably far from who I am.
"Did you just relate me to a Harry Potter character as a pick up line?" I laugh.
"Yeah, I did." He smiled. "Love them movies. So really you should be glad I did because I have really high standards for them movies."
"Thank you," I said kind of unsure. "I love the series as well."
"Then we should watch them together," he said quickly. "Like now."
I stopped in my tracks. "Now? I don't even know you. I mean you could be a psychopath and we just met at a group meeting for the mentally challenged."
"Fair enough, Ruby Red." he walked next to me, and placed his hands in his black jeans, he wore a plain black shirt and a black and red flanny over the top. Soon enough we were out of the old damp building and in the driveway to the parking lot, mum wasn't here yet which wasn't exactly unusual. Tobias and I stood there awarkdly as a young couple make out on the other side of the road.
"Oh wow," I say.
Tobias sighs, "young love."
I look at him for a long moment as he watches the couple in ore. At the concer of my eye I see mum pull into the driveway. It takes a lot for me to break my contact with him but I do and walk to the rolled down window.
"Hey mum, this is Tobias. I'm going to go hang out with him for a little." I said. I looked over to Tobias who had a wide grin. "I'll call you later."
