Chapter 18 : Forever home

Start from the beginning

"You're welcome."

Days later...

Jeff POV

Everything was great. Literally everything was just amazing. I don't think I've ever felt so good.

Now that I wasn't so stressed out, school just seemed a million times easier. I could focus and understand everything much better now.

Emmy and I studied and did our homework together every night. And then we'd hang out and talk for hours. She even told me that she's noticed how much happier I am.

I officially got adopted yesterday, and I felt so happy that this was now my home. I love Emmy and I love her parents.

"Jeff."

I looked up to see Emmy in the doorway.

"What?"

She walked over to me.

"I have a surprise for you."

"What kind of a surprise?"

"A good one."

"Is it a kiss?"

I took her hands, and pulled her closer to me. And I kissed her sweetly.

"No, that's not the surprise. It's in the living room."

"What did you get me? You didn't have to get me anything," I said, standing up.

"I know. But I wanted to. I think you're going to like it."

She took my hand.

"Close your eyes. I'll lead you out."

I shut my eyes, and let Emmy guide me into the living room. Finally, we stopped.

"Ok. Open your eyes."

"MOM!"

I ran into mom's arms and hugged her tight.

"I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too, Jeff."

"How did you know where I was?"

"Well... Emmy's parents contacted me and told me everything that's been going on. And I decided to take a few days off to come home and visit you."

I hugged her tighter, wanting to stay in her arms forever.

"Jeff, I got transferred to another company for work. And this company is going to give me more vacation time. So I can come visit you more often, ok?"

"Yay!"

"I'm just glad you're in a good home."

"I love it here, mom."

"Good. I'm glad."

We pulled apart.

"Emmy is my best friend. And as long as I'm with her, everything is perfect," I said, waving her over.

I pulled Emmy into a hug.

"Thank you for this," I whispered.

"You're welcome, Jeff."

"So I'm staying for dinner, and maybe I can take you to that coffee shop tomorrow?" Mom asked.

"Yes, that would be great!" I said.

Later...

Jeff POV

"Thank you for everything, Emmy," I said, slipping into bed.

"You're welcome. I'm just glad you're happy."

"I'm more than happy."

She slid into bed next to me so we could cuddle.

"I love you," I whispered, turning to face her.

"I love you too, Jeff."

She kissed me, and I smiled into it.

After we broke apart, I held her tightly in my arms, feeling great. My life is finally perfect.

The end.

A/N : Thank you guys for reading! Unfortunately, I don't think there will be a sequel for this book. Sometimes one book just seems good and doesn't need a sequel. Make sure to check out my other current books "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy" and "Finding Riker". I'm about to finish my fall semester of college in a few weeks, so I'll be starting 2 new books soon. One is the sequel to "Solitary Confinement" and the other is a new book called "Handcuffed". Thanks for reading, commenting, and voting! ~Kylie
