Though the person was a bit rough while getting you out, you could tell they were only trying to help. A hand was placed firmly on your back, and it pushed you this way and that toward wherever they had in mind. You hoped it was the exit.
"Thank you." You muttered, short of breath from all of the rushing around.
"Don't thank me until we've made it out and you're a whole." They chuckled back, giving you a side glance.
"Off color, huh?"
You wondered if he was leading you into some kind of trap, and if the answer to his question would lead to your demise. But he really seemed kind, why else would he have hit the robonoid?
"Yes." You said quietly, your stomach fluttering as you heard the whirring sound of an incoming robonoid from behind. He heard it too, it seemed, because he gently settled you down behind a stalagmite and patted your shoulder.
"Don't worry I've got this covered, just stay here."
His cape twirled as he spun to face the shattering robonoid. With a snap, he broke a stalactite off the ceiling of the cave and held it defensively.
You gasped as the robonoid began to scan him up and down, expecting the beam to come any second. But it didn't. Maybe it was malfunctioning due to the hit he had given it in the kindergarten...
He swung the stalactite and managed to hit it straight on, sending it spinning into the wall. It became stuck, bits of rubble flying everywhere as it smashed into the rock. He continued to swing and swing the stalactite until the robonoid exploded and he shielded himself with his cape.
Then he turned to look at you. He held out a hand to help you to your feet.
"I'm Lars."
You looked up at him with a star struck expression, standing slowly. He towered over you, and even had to bend a bit so as not to hit his head on the ceiling.
"I-I'm Chrysoprase." You smiled, blushing lightly. Around your feet, small clovers began to grow. You shuffled and hoped he hadn't seen.
"Thank you for saving me, Lars." You said, bowing gently to him. He laughed, gesturing to continue moving through the tunnels.
"No problem, I'm glad I got there in time. That was the only robonoid I'd seen since me and the other off colors landed here. It would have a hard time getting to us, but as long as it's working it's a danger to everyone." He tossed the stalactite away and once more placed a steady hand on your back.
It felt warm, something you hadn't felt in a long time.
After only a bit more of the two of you traversing in the dusty tunnels, you became aware of a light shimmering on the rock walls. Your cheeks heated.
"I'm finally leaving."
Lars nodded, seeming to understand the way you felt.
But as you stepped out, the planet was not what you had expected.
