I listened to tides crash along rocks and sand as I tried to drift to sleep, but it seemed like it was impossible. Thoughts swirled around my head, about this storm that my mother told me. A storm at sea that made the water churn and crash, creating horrifying noises. I wouldn't go into the depths of sleep with the fear that haunted me, I was scared. I slid out of my fluffy soft bed to watch the storm, the castle I lived in echoed with the sounds of waves and I shiver. There wasn't hope here at the moment, no fish, not a lot of food can be had then. The cooks and bakers and my father and mother had been livid and fighting, on and on. The sounds don't scare me, it was the hopeless feeling I felt. I couldn't leave, the castle became my prison.
I listen to footsteps come near until my door came opened and Mother peeked in,"Helios, my child, what are you doing?" I turned to face her, Mother's brunette hair shimmered as the lights turned on and her emerald eye glared me down. I didn't look like Mother a lot, I looked more like Father. I had long golden hair with my piercing sky eyes, I went with blue as the best color for me. "The storm, when will it leave?" I ask, shaking.
Mother gave me a somewhat worried look mixed with a tint of sadness. "No ones sure, Helios, we hope six months will do" she sighed, I turned back to the window. "Please, sit down on the bed and I'll tell you a story" I looked at Mother and nodded, but would it surely help? She laid me down and began,"There is a dragon, it's not an evil dragon and it watches over us, keeping all of us safe. But for a little time he has to rest and that's when he can't protect us right now, but he'll be back soon. He once had to fight another dragon, that was an evil dragon. The evil dragon hurt him and beat him to the ground, but the people gave offerings and healed the dragon. So that's why he protects us, he'll be here, I promise." My mind wasn't on the storm anymore, it was set on the beautiful dragon and it was possible to drift to sleep,"What was this dragon's name?" I asked before Mother left the room. Mother smiled,"His name was Helios" then she left, a smile came to my face too and I fell down into sleep.
