the boy next door

Sadie and Millie ran downstairs, Sadie told her mom what they were doing and the girls walked out the front door and saw a dark skinned family unloading a moving truck. Sadie spotted the boy first, then Millie.

"Hey! New guy come here!" Millie yells from where they were standing across the street from the boy. He looks at the girls and Sadie waves him over. He sets the box he was holding on the sidewalk and jogs over to the girls.

"Hi. We heard someone our age was moving in and we thought we'd say hello. I'm Sadie Sink and that's my best friend Millie Brown." Sadie holds out her hand for the boy to shake, he does so and grins.

"Caleb McLaughlin. Nice to meet you." He smiles brightly, his teeth were a perfect shade of white and were perfectly straight.

"I live right over there, so if you need anyone to show you around the neighborhood let me know." Sadie smiles brightly and blushes a bit. Caleb was sorta cute.

"Thanks, I'll see you around?" Caleb says and Sadie nods with a small grin plastered on her glossed lips.

Sadie and Millie walked down the block during the cold fall weather.

"He totally thought you were hot." Millie says smiling. Sadie blushed.

"H-He just met me." Sadie says

"So? Ever heard of love at first sight?" Millie smiles

"I've never believed that." Sadie shrugs

"Well you better start believing real soon, because I know exactly how to know if someone likes you or not." Millie says

"How?"

"When you talk to Caleb at school tomorrow, when he has to go to class and walks away from you see if her looks back. If he does, he likes you." Millie explained

"How do we even know if he's going to our school?" Sadie asks

"Seriously? He lives directly in front of you and our school is the first school for miles." Millie says

Sadie shrugs. "Don't forget about your lover Finnie."

"I won't. Hey, we never decided what happens if we don't go through with the dare." Millie says

"Hmm, okay if you don't get a date with Finn you have to... Go up to him and pretend like your drunk and confess everything you feel about him." Sadie smiles

"Sadie, we're fifteen nobody will believe I'm drunk." Millie says

"Oh don't pretend like you've never been drunk." Sadie laughs

Millie rolls her eyes. "Whatever. If you don't do your dare you'll have to go into the boys locker room and confess your feelings to Caleb."

Sadie scrunches her nose. "Fine."

"Let the daring begin!"
