Chapter 8: I'm Back

Start from the beginning

I walked down the stairs finally leaving the flying death trap. I entered the airport and walked towards the baggage carousel, luckily the airport gave our flight (that includes the guy I was flying with) it's own carousel for apparent privacy purposes, so I was able to get my stuff pretty quickly.

I left the airport right away, so that I can get a taxi before someone else could. You must be wondering why no one was waiting for me. It's because I wanted to surprise everyone with my arrival. They think I'm still coming back next week, but I missed my friends and family too much I couldn't wait.

After the taxi driver parked near my driveway I payed him and thanked him when he helped me get my stuff from the trunk.

I walked towards the door of my house lugging my biggest trolley leaving the lighter ones nearby, I tried remembering each memory I had from the play dates to my first date. I took out the key my parents gave me when I was 16 and unlocked the door, I peeked in listening to the soft squeaks of the floorboards as I walked on them. My parents didn't seem to be in the kitchen or living room, so I climbed up the stairs leaving my trolley in there, my parents were still no where to be seen. I almost gave up to rest instead when I heard my parents' soft chatter in the backyard. There I saw them sitting my dad reading and my mom telling him a story. I could see they haven't seen me yet, so creeped behind them.

"I'm back!" I screamed

My parents both jumped in surprise, but when they saw me I was engulfed in a big hug.

"Oh my baby's back" my mom muttered.

"We missed you so much honey" my dad chuckled hugging me tighter.

"I missed you too, but can you please loosen the grip I can't breathe" I asked in a strained voice.

"Oh of course sweetie we just haven't seen you in years" my mom answered releasing me, then wiped a small tear from her eye.

I left my parents after getting all my things back into my room. Then I headed towards my favorite diner, and if my friends are still the same they should be there already eating burgers or drinking milkshakes.

I borrowed my parents' car cause I wasn't able to buy one yet. I still remembered most of the streets, so I didn't get lost driving towards the diner. I parked the car near the diner since the parking lot was full.

I walked through the doors, and took a large inhale of the meaty scent of the old diner. It was built when my parents were teens, so that was pretty much a long time ago. Over the years it had a few renovations, but not completely so it looked almost exactly as it was years ago.

My scanned around the packed diner. I spotted Mike's face, so I slowly walked towards them trying to hide so they won't be able to see me. Well of course not literally hide that'll be weird.

"Boo!" I jumped up in front of all my friends. They all stared at me with surprise evident in their eyes, but when realization came onto them their eyes widened.

"Mel!" Sonya shrieked smiling brightly.

She climbed out of her seat, literally she reminded me of Spider-Man. When she finally got out, she hugged me tight, then slowly all my other friends stood up joining our hug making a pretty big group hug, then large arms wrapped around us, it was owned by none other than Drake picking all of us up. How did he even do that, we were a lot, those are some wicked long arms.

"Oh, Mel we missed you so much!" Mike said looking at me with his widest grin, everyone nodding their heads in agreement.

"Yeah, missed you guys too, but I still have to visit Connor" I said standing from the seat they gave me after our hug.

Miles, Alec and Jules looked between each other. They seemed to have a conversation with their eyes well more of an argument actually.

"Mel, we were actually going to tell you while you were in college, but we thought maybe Connor would've told you already." John spoke staring at me sadly.

"Why! What happened?" I questioned staring at them confusedly.

"Well, what John means is that a month after you left for college, Connor also left for LA. Something about pursuing his acting dreams or something." Mai answered nervously.

"I don't understand. Why didn't he tell me" I frowned. I always thought we would tell each other anything.

"We actually don't know" Drake said firmly. He was never the emotional type.

I felt a bit sad Connor didn't tell me, but now I know why he didn't keep in touch that much anymore.

"Uhm... Mel I think Alec, Jules and I should get going we have some work to do. We just started our auto-repair shop yesterday" Miles suddenly said. He started to stand up as did the two others.

"Okay! Congrats on your new shop" I smiled at them sadly.

Alec's POV

The three of us left the diner, and rode on Miles' new pick up truck. He drove to Jules house and parked in the driveway.

We stayed in Jules' room.

"Okay, guys do you think we should tell Mel already" Miles started talking staring at the Jules and I.

"I'm not sure she seemed pretty bummed today, she just came back it might become worse." Jules answered.

"Jules right, Miles we should tell here when he's here, he has to tell her himself" I answered.

"I'm sure he's not gonna tell her" Miles replied.

"Well, we should just wait then" I said.

Status: I'm back everyone! I've missed home too much- feeling happy

Okay, this is the first I'm added someone else's POV. But what do you think the boys are hiding, do you think its the same thing they were trying to tell Mel 4 years ago.

Also this chapter doesn't really have much things happening, but it mostly her coming back anyways, and do you think this is too fast.

Plus I've made a 2nd book it's called "Blind Dates & Match Makes" I already published 2 parts, but their both kinda short.
