The clocks in the house were all in sync. They ticked just to disturb my silent thinking. I looked up at Dark beside me, reading his book with his glasses on. Lately his eyes had been more of a grey rather than black. But I knew when his darkness was setting in. A red undertone in his eyes clouded the grey and soft black.
