Saturday comes almost immediately. Raymond reminded me all the time that it made me very excited and anxious. I didn’t even know what to wear. First I tried out a pink dress and later changed into leggings with a long top. Who was I trying to impress anyway? I asked myself aloud and sighed. I go to the lake almost every day and I don’t even bother about my look. I sighed. I have to look good right? But I know he didn’t even say it’s a date. I caught an eye of my jean skirt without thinking of a top. After a minute of deliberation I settled with a floral top. I put on some lip gloss, and then sneaked into my momma’s room to put on some makeup. Oh puh-lease, don’t tell me you’ve never done it before.
“Are you going somewhere Ku?” Ewura entered my room.
I rolled my eyes. Why does she intrude in my privacy? “You didn’t knock”
“Sorry” she sounded bored.
“It doesn’t change anything”
Without further argument, she quickly went back, knocked and entered.
“You didn’t have my permission to come. You should have waited for my reply”
“Whatever” she snickered.
“What is it Ewura?” I looked at her through the mirror.
“You look nice” she was studying me.
“I know”
“Where to?”
“The lake”
“Do you have to look nice just for the lake?”
I got impatient. “Yes”
She was still analyzing me from head to toe. “Mmmggnn”
I ignored her. “Would you please lend me your perfume?”
“OK” she went to get.
“Here”
“Thanks”
“I could come too” she made her voice very tiny.
“Come where?” I knew what ‘where’ meant but I asked any way.
“The lake of course”
“No “Do you have to smell so good” she asked.
“Yep” I said popping the ‘p’.
“Why?”
I sighed with my eyes closed. “To impress”
“Who?”
I said trying so hard not to grit my teeth.” My friend”
“Boy or girl?”
“That so none of your bizz” I snapped at her.
“My perfume please” she stretched her hand with her face indifferent.
“Okay okay a boy” I said hastily.
“Is he your boyfriend Ku?”
“My friend. One of my best buddies”
“I there a difference?” she smirked.
I couldn’t take it anymore. “Take your damn perfume”
She took it and ducked her head. “There’s a boy outside” then she quickly went out.
Yh right. You should go fast. “You twerp” I said after her.
I don’t understand why she didn’t tell me earlier and bombarded me with silly questions.
