I wasn't the type of girl to make myself an easy target. I wasn't the type of girl to go to a party and have sex with any boy that showed interest, specially if I didn't know the boy. So, when I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar, slightly lit room, I was surprised, scared even. I tried stretching, my arms and legs straightening only to make contact with a hard warmth.
What?
My eyes went wide and I slowly turned my face to the side. There, with eyes shut was a man, a young man, but he was definitely older than me. He had a dark beard and he was undeniably handsome. I stayed staring at the stranger for a long while until he opened his eyes. In surprise, I jumped back falling off the bed, leaving the warm softness of the bed, and onto the cold tiles.
The man peered over the side of the bed in utter confusion, as if he wanted to make sure he hadn't imagined the flash of a girl he had seen as soon as he opened his eyes. A blush crept up to my cheeks, heating up my face, I tried to open my mouth to say some sort of apology or an explanation, yet all that came out was:
"Did we, uh.." before I even noticed the words had left my lips. I was dying to know the answer, but, was that really the way to ask? Holy crap, he would think I'm crazy.
He furrowed his brows in confusion, trying deeply to think. A couple minutes after, his eyes drifted down to my half nude body, his eyes lingered on something that peeked out from the top of my underwear, then his eyes went down my blanket-tangled legs and went back up, rested on my breasts, then, my face and rolled on his back, disappearing from view.
A loud groan could be heard, but I stayed on the floor, my cheeks red and my skin decorated with goosebumps as the cold floor stung my skin. The silence was deafening, so I made it my mission to leave as fast as I could. I sat and searched the floor with my eyes and only found my jeans. Wrapped up in the blankets, I stood up and walked towards them, pulling them up my legs. I dropped the blanket and continued my search for my shirt, it was needless to say that my search turned out to be fruitless.
The stranger kept his eyes closed, as if trying to make me disappear with his thoughts. After a long moment of my moaning and whining and groaning while searching for my shirt, he opened his eyes as if suddenly realizing that I was, for a fact, real.
He opened his mouth, staring at me with furrowed brows, but quickly closed it.
"Did we?" he asked, staring at my bra-clad chest.
"I-I'm not sure. Did we?"
"I think we'd still be naked if we had" he said thoughtfully.
I had to give it to him, that was incredibly logical. I nodded and continued my search for the shirt.
"Here" he said, throwing my black shirt at me.
I smiled sheepishly and put it on, patted down my jeans in search of my phone and found it on the floor, close to the bed. I grabbed it, tied my hair into a bun with a strand of hair. The man hadn't made an effort to move from the bed, he just studied me and went back to closing his eyes.
"Well... it was very nice to meet you, but I must go" I made my way to the door.
"Wait" I looked behind me, as the man stood from the bed.
Oh wow, that body, those tight boxers, those tattoos...
"...let me treat you to breakfast. I know a diner around the corner"
He must have noticed my confused look as he pulled his jeans on when he answered:
"This is my place, I don't know how we got here to be honest, but this is my apartment"
I nodded in understanding and sat at the edge of the bed, playing with my fingers as to not stare at the man too much. My God, he was a good looking guy. I was impressed.
"You ready?" I nodded at him and stood up.
We walked for five minutes before arriving at a small diner, it had a vintage look to it, but it was neat and very well distributed. The place was packed, small chatter everywhere and the smell of delicious food was making my stomach growl. A middle aged lady greeted him and showed us to a table. He pulled my chair out and I stared at him with furrowed brows to which he shrugged and gave me a small smile. The lady recited the daily menu and we placed our order in. When the lady came back with a big mug and the coffee pot and poured it on my cup, he looked at me impressed. I was halfway to a sip when he opened his mouth as if to say something, I looked at him, raised an eyebrow and urged him on with my hand.
"So, uh..."
"Avery. Avery Nicholson"
"Avery, do you plan on putting some sugar on that coffee?"
"I like my coffee black, no sugar" I tapped the rim of the mug and grinned at him.
"That's the nastiest thing I've ever heard"
"Shut up" I laughed, I had heard that a million times, but my grandfather had taught me to drink coffee like that and it just stuck to me.
"...So, uh..." I trailed off realizing I didn't know his name either.
"Josh Moore"
"So, Josh, what do you do for a living?"
"Eh.. I work at a repair shop downtown"
"Like a specific kind or general?"
"I mainly work with motorcycles and paint jobs and such, but the shop works on cars as well"
"Hmm" I nodded.
The food arrived and I hadn't been that happy in a long while. I dove in and, suddenly, an embarrassing moan left my lips at the delicious food that was in my mouth.
"What about you? What do you do for a living?" Josh asked taking a sip of his orange juice, hiding the amusement showing on his lips.
"Just started my second year in college. History major"
"Quite the scholar, I see"
When our breakfast was done we chatted about what he liked, but every now and then he would try to drift the center of attention to me, without much success. Soon after, I got a pen from the lady at the diner and wrote my number on his arm and he gave me his, I bid farewell and left the diner with a promise of staying in communication.
