Stiles shoved the piece of lacy paper in his jean pocket and slammed his mail box shut causing it to bounce off the wall and swing open again.He closed it for the second time calmly and headed up the stairs.

His roommate Liam was sitting in the kitchen shoving handfuls of pretzels into his mouth.
"dude put the pretzels down" Stiles said walking into the kitchen
"fine did you do it" Liam asked putting his handful back in the bag
"what" Stiles asked
"the invite" Liam said looking his friend up and down
"yes i finally opened it" Stiles said pulling it out of his pocket and dropping it on the table
"about time that's been in the mail box since last monday" Liam stood up and put the pretzels away
"i get it liam" Stiles said taking a seat
"you gonna go" Liam asked
"to the party" Stiles asked fiddling with his hands
"yh" Liam nodded
"i don't know should i" Stiles looked for reassurance
"she is your friend" Liam told him
"that i haven't spoken to in about 5 years" Stiles said
"that was your choice" Liam said
"and it was her choice to dump me and then get on a plane never to speak to me again" Stiles replied
"thought it was mutual" Liam said
"M-mutual because i wanted the love of my life to walk away from me" Stiles stood up
"guess you aren't going then"
"we'll see" Stiles picked up the invite and stormed out of the room slamming the door of his room
"great" Liam sighed and began to eat the pretzels again

"Hey Scotty its Stiles call me back if you get this" Stiles repeated for the 5th time and then tossed his phone at his bed
He kept reading the stupid invitation wondering when Lydia and parrish decided they should date and wondering why the hell lydia said yes to that literal burning man.
Sure he was attractive but he was also 6 years older than them and often on fire. Maybe Lydia preferred someone supernatural so he could protect her but Lydia could most certainly protect herself.
It all made zero sense to stiles so he decided to put it aside and focus on something else like finding Liam a girl.

"Stiles shouldn't you be getting a girl not me"
"Liam Liam Liam you got dumped by Hayden like a year ago and you seem a bit hung up about it"
"says you"
"what"
"you are pushing this on me so you can avoid how you actually feel and we both know you are still in love with Lydia and her marrying Parrish is your worst nightmare but guess what its happening MOVE ON"
"I'm trying to I've been trying but she just acts like i never existed"
"she invited you to her engagement party that has to mean something"
"it means she's trying to shove her perfect life down my throat"
"or she just wants you to be there"
"sure"
"Stiles you always see the worst in people maybe its time you saw the good"
