Ellie walked quietly down the dark side walk, the silence whisking the air. Her heart hammered painfully in her chest with fright. She knew going down this road was a bad idea but looking back, she knew she had gone too far to turn around. The sounds of a cat's screech made her jump, her legs entangling themselves together as her clumsy self tripped before quickly regaining her balance. Ellie placed her arms out in front of her, startled by the fall as she looked around quickly.

The street posts were the only source of guidance in the dark night as the side walks were littered with trash. It was easy to tell that the neighborhood was a bad part of the town to be in- shuddering as she saw graffiti and broken beer bottles decorating the pavements. Ellie slowly continued to walk along, wrapping her arms around herself as she prayed internally to keep the fear at bay. Thankfully, she wore a soft, soaked, gray hoodie because she wore a white t-shirt underneath, a very thin t-shirt that would have easily displayed her black bra if she hadn't wore the sweater.

Continuing to inch her way out of the frightening streets, Ellie noticed a crackling sound off from a distance to her right. Turning her head, her eyes looked down into an ally before the sounds of yelling and laughing echoed between the brick walls. Suddenly, footsteps began to run their way towards her and Ellie quickly ducked away from the ally, hiding herself behind a trash can while the scurrying steps came to a haltering stop. She peered quietly as a young man before her fell to the ground, grunting as blood trickled down his head while he looked back to the voices that continued to laugh.

"Well what do you know, pretty boy here does know how to run," a man mocked, walking over as he looked down.

Other men followed suit, circling the young man that looked back, void of emotion. Ellie had to admit, despite the bruised lips, swollen cheeks, and bleeding forehead, the young man was indeed very good looking. Maybe not as good looking as the man she encountered earlier but he was up there on the spectrum.

"What?" the man continued, kneeling down the the man's level. With on hand, he grabbed his hair and yanked it back, earning a hiss as he seemed to watch in amusement of the man's attempt to pull his hand off. It was easy to tell he had no strength in him and Ellie knew his conditions were worse than it seemed- especially when she saw a red blood stained that circled around his ribs. She placed her hands over her mouth as she watched in horror as the men suddenly came forth and began throwing punches and kicks at him. The man continued to mock the young fellow, kicking him in the ribs too while he laughed again the others continued to do their dirty deed.

Ellie slowly sat up onto her feet, determined with fear as she looked ahead to the scene before her. The men had stopped their beating by then and the young man laid in the rain, almost unconscious. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she hoped he wasn't dead. With a deep breath, she quietly got onto her feet and scanned the area. If she planned on helping the kid escape, she had to at least figure out a way to pull the gang away from him.

It was as though the world had heard her prayer because the gang suddenly began to walk away, chatting with one another as a few gave in some last final kicks to the poor kid as they left out of view and down the street. Ellie made sure to stay put to be sure they were a good distance away before she quickly ran out from her hiding spot and over to the body that laid helplessly on the floor. Tears struck down her face as she scrambled into her bag to find her phone, dialing clumsily 911 before placing the phone against her phone.

"This is the police department, what's your emergency?" the lady over the phone questioned.

"H-Help me! T'There's a young boy here whose unconscious. There's so much blood coming out of him, I-I don't know if he's dead. Oh god, I hope he's not dead. It's raining out here and I don't want him to die so please-"
