Never meant to cause you trouble,
Thinking of all the stupid things I've done and said,
I'm sorry that I'm here so late,
Please don't turn my heart away,
Never meant to do the harm,
An empty bottle to take the rain,
Take my pain and my sorry,
An empty boat that takes the sea,
Take my sorrow and my sins,
An empty heart to take the love,
Never meant to do you wrong.
