<Athena's P.O.V.>

The sun was poking its head over the horizon, slowly sinking by the minute, its receding form leaving pink hues dusting the darkening blue sky. The young girl leaned her head against the old willow, soaking in the beautiful sight as though it was the last time she would see it. The air had an ominous vibe to it, so thick that one could cut it with a knife.

She lowered her eyes away from the horizon, glancing towards the town of Shingashina, in which she lived.

She debated over whether or not she should return to her cabin on the nearer side of Wall Maria, although not for the reason of curfew. Both of her parents were deceased. She still remembered part of that fateful day.

A friend of her mothers had explained the story in a letter he wrote for the young girl, telling a tale that went as follows.

<No One's P.O.V.>

Her mother had joined the military when she was 15, and after four years of training, was assigned to the scouts regiment.

It was there that she met the young girl's soon to be father, but not without some issues of course. The first time in which Michael and Reigna met, they were instant enemies. Even after being placed in the same squad, the bickering just never stopped, until one night, when they were out on an assignment in the forest, Reigna's omni gear began to malfunction due to lack of use.

It was then that an abnormal titan took sight of her, jumping from tree to tree like a monkey, its long, black hair knocking the yellowing leaves to the ground. The titan closed the distance at a much faster rate than Reigna could imagine, leaving her vulnerable. As the titan reached her position on a high branch, Reigna closed her eyes, hoping for a painless death, her body shaking in defeat. The titan grabbed two of the trees and used them as a sling shot to propell its body forward, attempting to clamp its teeth around her shivering body.

But before the titan could pounce, an unknown force slammed two swords into the beasts neck, digging into its week spot. As the titan fell to the floor, Reigna unclenched her eyes to find Michael's outstretched hand, his face turned to the side and his chocolate brown eyes closed in a haughty manner.

Reigna, unable to comprehend why she was still alive, stared at him as though he were an angel, there to save her from the hands of death.

She grabbbed his hand and attempted to pull herself up, but instead, her legs went limp as the tears cascaded down her face from her forest green eyes.

A startled Michael pulled her up and carried her down the tree, regrouping toward their squad with a sobbing Reigna on his shoulder.

After they regrouped, the scout regiment headed back towards the confinement of the wall. Michael was still supporting Reigna, and all that could be heard from the frightened 19 year old were soft praises of gratitude and more sobs.

From that day on, they both grew considerably close, sparring, eating, and even sleeping with only eachother.

Not only a year after the incident, after one of their sparring matches, Michael proposed to Reigna after all the others left. She happily accepted and were married six months later.
