I quietly cracked the door of the closet open, my father was fast asleep on the couch. I held my breath as I opened the door all the way and climbed out. I quickly, but quietly walked through the hallway, past the couch, and to the window. I'm so happy we live on a one floor house. I climbed out the window and smelled the fresh air. I ran down the street and for once in my whole life felt free. I was on my way to the bus station, from there take a bus to Gotham, and finally end up in Jump City. First I would need a new name. My name has always been Rachel, my father never told me my last name so I need to think.
I made it to the bus station when a raven landed on a nearby tree, and that's when it hit me. My new name will be Raven. I was standing on Roth Drive, and I just had a brainstorm. My new name is Raven Roth. Then the bus pulled up, I took a huge breath before going inside. I handed the man my ticket. He looked at me with suspicion. "Whats your name girly?" the man asked. "Raven Roth." I calmly stated slipping into a monotone. "Where are you heading Raven?" the man asked again. I mentally sighed, can't I just get on the bus and sit down like a normal person. I finally looked at my surroundings and noticed no one else is on the bus. I guess that's why he keeps asking questions, he's bored. "Gotham." I said this time with a smile. He smiled back and replied," That's my last stop, we'll be there by 9:30 in the morning. Please take a seat Raven." I smiled and sat down in a seat by the window. I stared out the window as the bus took off. I finally drifted off to sleep, and I dreamed of my new free life.
9:25a.m.
I woke up to screeching tires, I check my watch and it was 9:25! I never slept this late, but man it feels good to sleep in. I remembered last night and looked around the nearly empty bus. There was a man in the front drinking what looked like coffee, a woman trying to hush her small baby in her lap, and a old man in the back snoring loudly. "Lovely." I said to no one. The. The bus stopped again, but this time the bus driver turned around. It was the same man I talked to last night. "Raven this is your stop." He said with a smile. I got off the seat grabbed my backpack and walked to the front of the bus. "Thank you." I said and walked off onto the street. "Good luck getting to Jump City Raven." the man yelled before he drove the bus down the street and out of sight. I stood there on the sidewalk dumbstruck, how did he know I was going to Jump City.I stood there for a few minutes before looking at Gotham city around me. I sighed as I walked down the street and to a nearby gas station. I still needed to change my hair color and eye color. My hair and eyes are an unnatural shade of dark violet. I walked into a as station and instantly went into their bathroom. I groaned as I looked in the mirror, I look like a mess.
First things first, ill do my hair. I'm so lucky this is a one person handicap bathroom. I pulled out the permanent hair dye and set to work making my hair a deep black.
